The treaty of Waitangi ceded sovereignty of all the signing parties in New Zealand to the queen.
Below is the prices paid for the South Island. The North Island will take a little more time to put together but I am pretty sure I will only come up 1 million-1.2 million Ha or so Ha short.

Lifes to short to waste time with people, who can't see past some perceived slight perpetuated. Not even on them. By people that preceded them and all the people currently in NZ.
Yet they now expect all of the people of New Zealand to pay these slights committed in the past now. For shit that didn't even happen to them. Added to that they think that the world owes them something. Because of What? Why bother. I guess that because I voice this opinion it makes me a racist too.

He got ripped off! just kidding, But I understand at the time it was considered a good deal in hindsight it was a bargain. Although if you factor in compound interest and I bet it would come out to a decent amount of money for what was at the time a unproductive isolated piece of land.
