    Face masks?

Face masks, neck warmers, socks, whatever the style or name, which do you Neoprene or soft fabric?

I'm looking at getting something that fits under the helmet and under the front of the jacket

I had a neoprene half mask years ago and it always had that 'rubbery' feel about it. Also sometimes it would push down as I pulled the helmet on.

I like the idea of a balaclava that comes down past the collar of the jacket.

    What do others prefer?

I have a combination mask, the nose and mouth part being neoprene and the neck/tuck into jacket part is polar fleece.
It works pretty well, even though my new lid is a lot more windy then the other one

I use a soft balaclava helmet insert thingy

Its easy to wash, tucks into the jacket and keeps my neck, nose and face warm
Tried the "wetsuit" type....they get smelly fast and don't wash that well I found (lost its shape after a couple of washes)
*I also use a thermal scarf in winter to help the balaclava in the warming department....and because im soft

I am thinking about trying one of those Airjam helmet addons (the ones you put on the base of helmet to cut wind noise etc...mate swears by his! (AGV helmet..noisey!)

I have a Revit Freeze windcollar and I can't rate it highly enough - best $60 I've ever spent.

Harden up. If it gets really cold you may have heard of a recent invention, it's called a scarf.

And if you're cheap a freezing works meat bag will do the trick.

I used a scarf for a while but eventually got a neck roll thingie - can't remember the brand. Better than a scarf - keeps the neck draught free and best of all, it stops wasps and bees getting in under your jacket....Use a heavy one in winter and a lighter one in summer.

I've tried the plastic bag over the head, found things went all fuzzy after a few minutes. Did keep the wind out tho

Still getting some cold nights in the Waikato when riding to and from work. Have just removed the windshield off the cruiser, hence the need to wear something additional around the neck. Removing the screen has made a world of difference to the noise levels around the helmet.

Wow, ya mean technology advances means you don't get muslin (stockinette) bags no more??

Got a neck role thingy. Was using a scarf before that till it got rapped around the rear sprocket of the 750. Have one of them fancy "no fog" face masks with tube but found it to be absolutely hopeless. You could cut the sleeve off some fat bastards skivvy if you were desperate.

I just put up with a freezing cold neck. There's so little room between my chin and the helmet, that wearing a neck roll closes that space entirely, aggravating winter visor and eyewear fogging problems.

I have both. I hated the Neoprene one, and use the Material one. I own 3-4 of them now, and funny enough the best one, was a freebee from a fast bike magazine.

Got both a polar fleece one that goes down front and back under jacket and two neoprene ones that velcro behind the head. Have been using the neoprene ones but am going to go back to the polar fleece one even though it means you have to put it on earlier. The neoprene ones have slits for the nose and I find that unless they are positioned perfectly they tend to cause my nose to itch.

I Picked up a set of 3 fine knit tubes from TSS in Alicetown, about $25. You shove them down over your head and can use them as a neck roll, pull them up over your head as an open face hat thing or tuck an edge up over your face for the balaclava look. Or wear them as a head band if you have really long dreads like mine!

I have been using it to stop my dreads from dragging and pulling while I'm putting my lid on. Really good, I like them. and just enough to stop the wind hooning down my neck but not too bulky to restrict movement.

Saw one for about about $30 at one of those flash camping/hiking places recently. But it was for just one.

A thin silk Balaclava when dry or a fleece neck warmer and waterproof Balaclava when wet
