I shouldn't skite, but I can't help it...
Starting tomorrow after my appointment with my surgeon in the morning, I'm taking Mrs. Bear to a lovely fishing lodge on the shores of Lake Rotorua for the long weekend, we should be home sometime on Monday.
The reason? We will celebrate our 34th Wedding Anniversary on the 22nd of this month and after all we've been through, we weren't sure we'd make it. The last 18mths have been very difficult since my accident in May last year and Mrs. Bear has had to endure a lot and has worked so very hard to keep us going and to support me in my rehab after the stress of nearly losing me.
So this anniversary is somewhat special for more than just the fact that we have been marrried since 22, Oct. 1977. I am truly blessed to have a, (still beautiful), wife who still loves me as much or more than she did at the very beginning.
Our start was the proverbial "eyes across a crowded room" and from then on we were to be together. We now have three grown up children and two sons-in-law, one grandson and another due in January. Reflecting on the last 36 years since we first laid eyes on each other in Wellsford, and remembering the hard times and the good, we truly understand the marriage vows of "for better or for worse, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health... until death do us part."
We are a team, a couple, a unit, and we can't imagine being with anyone else. So many forget, what it means to be committed in marriage and after so many years, our family and friends only think of us together and depend on us being "Ed and Jill" as we have been all their lives.
So reflect upon your mate and the reason you fell in love and married him/her and remember that love is all that matters between you. Cherish each other and each day as any day may be your last.
So to my darling wife, I love you more than ever and I'll cherish you until the day I die.![]()
