Having a bad day at work?

Im 41 and havent rode a bike for 20 years until from a couple of weeks ago when the wife got a new car and I got a '07 Hyosung GV 250 (use to ride Suzi GN250) as was told easy to ride and it suits my licence (L).

I want to sit my practical soon to rid the big yellow L plate but need some "assessment" from an experienced biker to follow me and let me know how I am currently so I know what I need to brush up on. My wife follows occasionally but said after a week I am fine - but maybe she's being kind.

This is an opportunity for someone that's had a bad day at work to give me crap about my rusty riding.

If you want tocome down Kingsgate Hotel carpark about 3ish tomorrow Saturday me and wifey will do a wee urban pootle with you. She has done the license thing in the not to distant past so we may be able to do the route taken from the 5 cross roads depot.

    let me know

That's great. I think I am ok (dont we all) but need a bit more confidence approaching and cornering roundabouts and corners at high speed. Today at lunch time I went to The Base via Rotokauri (by the zoo), Exelby then Burbush and I know I am not good enough on the corners. I just see the gravel and gives me the willies so I slow down on approach. I think my speed is ok but I compensate +10km speed limit as I think my speedo is out based on my wifes comments.

I will arrive 2:50pm and hang around for 20 minutes at kingsgate hotel carpark (I assume the one by the race course round-about?) Dont worry if you dont turn up - we all are busy people.

Being west hamilton, my route to whatever over the bridge may be the extended version.

    thanks heaps.

p.s. you cant miss me, I have a GIANT YELLOW L plate sticking out the rear end...of the bike.

Murray's always at the Kingsgate. That or the Te Rapa tavern . In fact he lives there (even place - doesn't matter haha). Big ups for asking for some help too. A lot of people would just shy away if they weren't that confident and hope for the best. Better to get "issues" sorted before they become ISSUES if you know what I mean.

The secret to riding...look ahead (12 seconds ahead), be confident but not cocky, own your piece of the road, and the most important thing...LOVE IT!!

And Murray, give him shit LOL

I'm actually trying to organise Brooke and I to come on this one. I've never been there and I don't think Brook has either. So hopefully if Brooke's feeling up to it we'll be able to join in the fun!

The only downer is that I'll have to ride the old man's bike while Brooke gets Sonic II "It's only because I can't fit you're Dad's anymore"...

    Yeah sure it is

    Hi everyone,

I'm about to wrap up my NZ motorcycle culture photography project, but I'd really prefer to do one more quick shoot.

Is there any group rides happening over the weekend that are going to be quite short? (ie a few hours in the arvo)

Alternatively if there is a few of you willing to pootle round some back roads with me photographing as a pilion that would be fantastic.

Info here for those that haven't read about it:

    Cheers,

Everything was organized, Brooke wasn't up for it though which was a shame. The kid has kept us up for the past 3 nights with an ear infection. Tell ya what, when he hits 5 he's outta here so we can go back to enjoying life

Yeah, the no sleep bit is one of the hardest things when parenting, everything becomes infinitely more difficult when you are tired.

Got some ear plugs if you want for a good nights sleep
I've spent my money on bikes, booze and babes. The rest I've wasted....
