Actually two brands that hold a decent margin, I suppose he probably could.
Providing the dealers arent stupid enough to give most of their margin away.................

Seriously though, bike sales certainly isn't where the money's made.

The war will be fought on servicing.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

No it wont, and anyway why should there be a war between GOOD dealers. Every business deserves to make a fair and reasonable living, without risking their viability by getting sucked into dutch auction mentality.

Which is exactly what Suzuki have just done. Gonna be some cheap Suzuki's going in the Wellington Area.

Here's the thing, when the number one performing Yamaha dealer in the country for 6 years running, can't keep its door opens and folds, you've got to wonder what the attraction is holding a franchise. Awesome product, great bikes, very difficult to work with. Shame.

Agreed. I don't think there's simply the money in Japanese franchises to be able to rely solely on the revenue they provide.

Pretty sure that Haldanes have suddenly stopped being a Suzuki dealer, now advertising as a Suzuki specialist. They seem to be stocking up on scooters to compliment the Ducati range

Correct. Haldanes are no longer a Suzuki dealer.

Well, having seen lousy service from most bike shops, won't make much different to our crew as we just do it all ourselves now....
Anything we can't do, I'll source from out of town because Wellington bike shops are truly horrible to deal with.
I've tried buying local but honestly, all I've ever had is the run around, been told fairy tales by idiots and been told things aren't available when they are oh and the best ones, where I order VERY specific things and have idiots order different parts (because you know, they apparently knew better than I did) or try to pass off the wrong parts as the right ones, so I'm over it.

When we bought a new PW50 for our toddler a few months ago, we got it from Taumaranui as the bike shop were fantastic to deal with. They were helpful, friendly, got what we asked for when AND with no bullshit.
I bought both my Yamaha and my DRZ through a bike shop in Tauranga who both times (and especially when things went wrong) were fantastic to deal with. They even were great about replacing a split back guard that the bike transporters broke.
Gear wise, almost everything I have has been bought from a Hamilton Bike shop. They stock most things I've needed and it's been 2-3 day delivery even on things they had to order in specially because I'm so tiny.

Sorry to hear you've had such lousy service from us all. It won't stop me sending out a "please, help stolen bike" email to every Suzuki dealer in NZ next time one of 'your crew' losses a bike though.

Thanks, it's a shame that people in bike shops don't seem to want to be more helpful when I'm actually standing in the store with a thousand bucks to spend.

If that ever happens in the store I work in, please come and see me personally and I'll make sure you get the service you should!
