    100kph = safe

    105kph = death for yourself and everyone you've ever loved.

    Won’t affect me too much as I don’t speed, I find the rough roads can knock my beer out of the cup holder…

    it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

    The tolerances are only applied if you get caught ... if you kill yourself (or somebody else) prior to that ... all good ... eh ???

    No.

    They'll take everybodys licence off them and bull-doze up every metre of road in NZ into oblivion.

    That might lower the road toll - and nobody will get a speeding ticket ever again.

    A win-win eh!

    Glad for the 4 kmh tolerance. Got sick of sticking to the speed limit.

    Looks like the road toll is out of control. I guess it's about time they acknowledged that the reduction of the tolerance to 4km/h isn't effective.
    However, in looking for something else that might work, this is well welcomed

    Given that the 4km tolerance has recieved fairly high coverage, add to that the fact that most car speedos read anything up to 10% slow, the people who pay any attention to speed limits are going to be driving on the low side of 90 anyway. Throw in an impatient person to try a risky overtaking manoeuver, and we're seeing the result.

    I cannot find the source, but I read some time ago one US state removed the open highway speed limit (and yes, their highways are far superior to NZ goat tracks) and they found the median speed increased only a small degree, as people only went as fast as they felt comfortable with. No doubt there were some who went for the land speed record, but they would have done that anyway, regardless of limits.

    nz dollars, not worth much, banned on an international, doesn't bother, dead due to man walking in front of car beating me with red flag, ( very possible)
