Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

A Broker is a third person or firm that facilitates a transaction between two parties and takes their fee, wether a percentage or fixed amount for their services.

Unfortunately the connotations of the title due to its sound, have also proven true far too often as people have lost everything due to the incompetence or misfortunes of said Broker, leaving the customer definitely broker.

Well I did. Its not a retail holiday today. Our shops are open.

Shame for them really as when I went there were 8 people looking through the windows. Guess motorcycle retail is doing well at the moment then.

They must have their reasons, and as it is a holiday today and tomorrow they may well feel they need the time off. I suggest registering a complaint with their Customer Services dept.

You forget that I am a founding member of the BDOTGNZA, so the relative positions of e's and r's (tee hee) and what they replaced was not lost on me. It is not like you, however, to have missed the subtlety contained in my post above...

Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?

Again it is down to the definition of the word as against its sound and connotation in the wonderful language we call "English." Practice can be both a noun and a verb. You could say the Practitioner was practicing in his Practice.
