I put a lion down today

I know the feeling, I have to ride my TS185 in a small suburban back yard.

As far as amputation... well a 3 leged lion could never be put back in its pride, it would be picked on and as a pack animal it would go nuts on its own.

And A lot of animals that are breed there are relesed to help with avoiding extinction... ohh and they are more than happy nuff to be caged, the other day I lay in the sun with a cheetah or two, big purrs man louder than your ute with no exhaust, they are happy.

Better that than it living with permanent pain, which can also make Lions go a bit loco and even more dangerous. I have family in South Africa who work very closely with Lions (among many many other species of wild animals) and the beauty of them never ceases to amaze me. One thing that they (my family members) do that is quite cool, they allow people to pay to dart a lion rather than shoot and kill them, it is cheaper, and the lion has to be darted anyway as they need to check them (health, research etc.). All of the money raised goes back into research, conservation and protection of a range of at risk animal species. They have had to shoot the odd few that have developed a desire to predatorily hunt people, gotten ill and the such, but is always out of necessity not desire. I personally could never just shoot an amazing animal like a lion out of sport, they are just too majestic.

Where are ya man !!! Envious if your "Out west" is west Africa lol As Shafty says i have a bit of experience, should i say "an experience" with the big cats in captivity and it's been a goal since then to see them in their true habitat !

I drew the Line and walked away refusing to help, when they kilt my hand reared +3 yr old cats, as well as the other Doz or so lions i had cared for for almost 4 years !

You got to experience something most never will, and while sad to have to euthanase such a beautiful beast, few will ever be able to experience an animal like this up close. Although we have been able to pet a baby lion. I agree with your post here, sadly Man in general, has not been a good caretaker of the Earth and its creatures.

True story, the dead-beat father of my nephew is on some "art grant" so he can smoke more P........and he gave his son a painting once of some orange and yellow. Looked sort of like some kind of painted fur.
On the back he put his name (in 5 year old scribble) and the name of the painting.
I personally could not see the "Roaring Loin"........but I am no artists (I know how to spell most words).
