A 6 year old out on the street till 2am...I'm sorry that is beyond any responsible sensible excuse!...The parent's what the fuck are they doing...where are they. Before anyone preaches I have come from a broken and unpleasant home from a very young age...I have a 6 yr...so the cycle doesn't have to repeat!...My Miss 6 is the most loving, carefree, not scared of anything she tries and is certainly not on the streets.....question is how do you change "I don't give a fuck mentally" in some parent's????

We had a boy racer up and down the road a few nights ago, waste gate banging, drain pipe resonating, and some wit put a notice up at the library along the lines of "what if they run a child over!"

Now mistakes happen, but generally speaking I'd have to say that 1am is not a good time for children to be roaming the street, and the lady at the info centre thought it was hilarious when I amended the scribbled dissertation with, "If your kids are wandering the streets at 1am I rather think that trumps a noisy car. We know who you are. We're watching."

But back to the point, the entrenched culture of "blame" just fosters a continuation of the same old bollocks and reinforces the "us and them" mentality on both "sides". If you're not willing to make a positive difference to repairing the breach in cultural attitudes, opportunity, education, and simple empathy, then the alternative is not eugenics, murder, assault, arson, or concentration camps. It's been tried. It just makes people nastier.
