My plan is to be there for the races, so leaving approx 7am from BP Stortford Lodge in Hastings seems like a good idea. I will also be riding back the same day after end of last race. Does anyone else have plans of doing the same, and if so, would they like to ride at the same time?

So your going to Fonganui, the racing is at Wanganui and still is spelt that way on the web site

Must be two groups going to the different towns, I think Michael Laws is orginising a ride too, maybe Ken Mair as well..................

Anyone been over the Napier - Taihape road lately? Just curious as to the condition. Looking on google maps it's only 10km's more to Wanganui via Taihape. I'm wondering if it's a viable alternative given all the bad comments regarding the condition of the Saddle Rd at the moment.

The Gentle Annie still has small pea metal on the seal, which isn't always evident until you arrive there!............. quite slippery in some areas.

above was posted another section 10th December

Corby Rd crap on SH2 is apparently sealed now, and the approach to Saddle from the gorge-end of Woodville as well. The Condoit Rd gate has been removed. Just bypass Woodville altogether. Saddle itself isn't bad.
Been a few months since I went over the Annie, but as Wickle says, at least then there was still a bit of loose shit. Wasn't too bad tho. Not drifted up or anything, just a bit scattered. More psychologically off-putting than any real danger.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Any of you lot up for the Gentle Annie on next sat?
Me and MamaJo are coming down and thought we'd go to Taihape and then thru the Gentle in the afternoon.
