SERIOUSLY (as in I genuinely believe this to be true) If you can't make you mind up for yourself what you should be riding or like to be riding or what suits you best after sitting on a few you should seriously reconsider riding at all. The whole bike thing is a confidence thing - backing yourself to make the right choice.

'Brands' like to segment their appeal to sub groups which is why they make so many different types of bikes. The brand itself might represent its self as sporty or off road etc or lets face it BEARS type bikes appeal to a certain group.

Anyway - NO maker produces good bikes all the time. Its a really silly question....

To you.... But you didn't write it I did, so that statement is meaningless.

I put it to you that there is no unifying theme in motorbikes, there is no geographic or cultural consistency in iconography and an MV Agusta has more in common with an R1 than it does with a Vespa or a Benelli TnT.

And I put it to you that as people Have voted for their favorite region in bike production that there is most definitely consistency and iconography to some people in the "Community".
And Although an MV agusta does have more in common with an R1 than a vespa. It also has a lot in common with a Ducati 1198 or 848, Aprilia RSV, Benelli Tornado and Bimota sb8r! .... see how examples can be used to make yourself look cool.....

Agreed I believe that I didn't ask the right question to achieve the results I was after.

But if anyone is still reading the thread at this point, and can ascertain what it is I'm after. I am still looking for more votes.

    Otherwise I happily accept /thread.

Where is the "I am a bike slut - I'd ride anything" option?

Refer to my last post I have Obviously gone way to wide of the mark when asking and setting up this poll, and this was in no way designed to help me choose what to ride.... I have my favorites.

Just trying to see what others thought.

This is what I'm trying to gauge and this is why i didn't include a don't care option.

You need to be more specific in what you are after.
There is no bike i would choose just because of where the head office is as most are now made all over the world.

I ride a bike because it fills a purpose for what i want to do at a particular time.

The question you have asked is akin to "why do you ride?" too many answers to put in one very limited poll choice.

I chose one of each. Because I don't give a shit. If a company makes a bike I like and can afford, then that is what I'll go with.

I would never rule out any bike manufacturer or country of origin, if they make something I fancy and I have the money I would buy it. I do have prejudices however, I'm so old I can't remember where they came from but if all countries made a very similar bike I would be less likely to buy it from Italy, Britain, China and more likely to buy it from Japan, Germany, America.

Given only a short time at a motorbike show I would go to the Yamaha, Bmw and Harley stands in that order. Given a bonus five minutes I'd do the Suzuki and Motto Guzzi stands, I'll be fecked if I know why, just how it is.
    Oh bugger

Easy... most stuff is good. Just don't buy a Honda... only poofs have them.

Are you advertising again Gremlin? You've been warned about this not being a singles forum before!

I used to be Brit bike only in the old days, then I bought a CB750 and realised what I had been missing.

I still love Triumphs and reckon the modern ones are amongst the best bikes on the road in any class you name (apart from 1000cc superbikes), and will never sell my Thunderbird Sport because every time I ride it I get a big old grin. I also own an old BMW airhead, and while I bought it to do up and sell, it is a really amazing bike that I also doubt I will ever sell. I also used to own a Moto Guzzi Le Mans, and one day I will own another Guzzi, and I will own a Harley in the future. While I have done some of my best riding on Jap bikes, I'm not sure I will ever own another. I like the new ones, and respect them for their design excellence and superb build quality, but they don't invoke passion in me the way BEARS bikes do and the classics are selling for stupid money, even the ordinary shit like CB350s etc.

I will never own a Chinese or Korean bike because I really can't see the point unless you want a new(ish) bike and can't afford Japanese. Or have a bonfire planned.
Don't blame me, I voted Green.
