Running in a leather jacket?

I have just bought a 'like new' Qmoto leather jacket. I dont think it has ever been worn. The leather is quite stiff, particualy noticable in the arms.
My first decent leather jacket in probably 30 years. Feels comfortable, just needs wearing in.


What's the best stuff to work into the leather to help soften the material?

stick it you bed with electric blanket on for couple of hours.Take it out and apply mothers leather conditioner polish it as it cools.This will get it conditioned.Then just wear it as much as possible.

I would use Saddle or Neatsfoot oil to soften the leather - then SnoSeal to protect and waterprroof

If the train driver had one as well it would have helped! Just leave the jacket in the sun to heat it up then put some waterproof leather stuff on it. Mr qmoto will tell you what to use if you ask. Quite a few products out there that do the same thing.

play with the kids under the sprinkler with it on then go for a ride in the hot summer sun. I didn't actually do anything with my leather stuff. Just wore it. Probably why the jacket is more flexible than the pants. I wear the jacket more.

there are some excellent natural products around these days. You can just rub in Olive oil.. it IS natural and will soften the leather after a couple of applications. I used to use saddle oil etc and was given that heads up by a Saddler down in Invegumboot.

take it on a 24 hour bender. Leave the keys with the missus. In the morning (or afternoon?) wipe the rum, beer, lamb fat, and tomato sauce leftovers Off with a clean soft cloth, then take it for a ride. Hey Presto. Ready.

wouldnt you not want to soften the leather? would that not adversely affect is abraision resistance? ive only just bought a new Alpinestars leather jacket so would be good to know..
