I prefer 4 wheels over 2
i like 2 wheels to have a bit of fun now and then (offroading)
but of course your going to get hate about boy racers on a motorbike forum...
but if you ask me motorbikes are more of a nuisance on the road then cars.

Funny. I googled to try and find previous reference to a 'Charity Cruise' to see who organised it or what plans there were. Found nothing. Perhaps it was planned late? (Like when they saw the cops arrive?). I take it all back if Red Cross has seen some money out of this.
Anyway, from TVNZ News:
Over 200 boy racers were met by a substantial police presence in the Bromley area last night.
A witness says police interrupted a Charity Cruise in Christchurch, where more than 200 cars were planning to travel along Maces Road, Bromley, to raise money for the Red Cross Earthquake Appeal.
However 12 police vehicles, with 24 officers, moved in to suspend the cruise and cordon off the street.
Inspector Paul Fremaux told ONE News it is a standard policing unit and it is not unusual for the police to be at an event on a weekend night.
Police say the boy racer activity on Maces Road died down around 4am this morning.
The south communications inspector said the police presence last night was due to general rowdiness created by Christchurch's typical boy racer crowd, which she said had been particularly bad last night.
The inspector said there had been car screeching, drunkenness and a big mess had been created on the road from bottles and rubbish thrown out of car windows.
Sergeant Dean Lawrence said there is a car show in Christchurch called Fours and Rotary's which always attracts more motorists than usual and requires more police units.
He said there had been several calls of complaint from the areas around Halswell and Maces Road so police were called out to attend to those incidents.
A police spokesperson said they were not aware of any arrests and said there had not been any violence.
Grow older but never grow up
Of course they are. The difference is groups of motorcyclists are not congregating in suburban areas, racing, drinking, pissing and vomiting into peoples properties, damaging private property, intimidating residents, and attacking police. If we were, we'd get our own special laws as well.
Out of curiosity, if a group of bikers were to ride together through Chch does that come under the whole cruising rule thing?

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!
Just yesterday I saw a pack of them roaming the street terrorising small children and chewing on cats, it is unfortunate when riders do not chain up their motorcycles properly. But the cars all just sat around doing nothing, which isn't much better. As someone once said, "all that is needed for evil to flourish, is the indifference of a good Peugeot".
Just have the red cross call in the sallies, and go and extract their charity take from the bastards directly, shiny rims are worth a bit right? Unless they did actually raise more money than they wasted spilling oil onto the road out of their shitboxes.
