Slight correction sunshine...there was three of us and closer to 1400kms for the day. Time away from home >19hours, time on bike moving >16 hours IIRC.

It would seem to me that this policewoman is using her experiences on a 1200 Sportster as a basis for what everyone else can do.

Damn, I wish I was out there now.

I know of ONE member on site here (there may be more) that is KNOWN to have done 1635 km's in the elapsed time of just under 14 hours. (same roads) So by comparison ... your time is a tad slower ...

So, the safety "initiatives"are in full swing. We got stopped in Tai tapu, Licences, wof and reg checked, then another 3 HP between there and the hilltop! Of course, one went to pull a U turn on a blind crest near the Hilltop {I kid you not!} Some filthy looks and pointed fingers-and he looked sheepish-he knew exactly what we were on about! On the way home one HP and a Mufti. Hmmmm Message sent! Bikers are a soft target for publicity seeking careerist shiny bum officers.

Big block is Chch, Lewis, Coast, Hoki, Haast, Hawea, Tarras, Omarama, Fairlie, Geraldine, Thompsons track and home.

It was an awesome days ride, the bugger was the stop in Franz for a feed that took ages to receive, valuable time lost, but nice in the tummy though.

The TT would be a great run though.... Longs days int he saddle are sure challenging though.

Ok ok miSTa edited the map to include the bit I had forgotten... lol wanker.

I asked the cop in Tai Tapu why he stopped me. (the laser was scattering all over the place, I saw it as I came in).
He said, 'just checking documentation'. Apparently Nick Smith is pissed that the bike licensing revenue has dropped with the increases, not improved.
he said 'expect to get stopped multiple times today'. I asked him where. They are trying to police us off the roads.

I was pulled today and asked for my licence,
    ""not a problem officer""
I carefully got off of my bike, ensuring that it did not fall over,
I removed my gloves, one at a time, slowly of course.
Removed my helmet, which I then had to put my gloves inside of,
Then hang my helmet over my back rest, efficiently covering my L plate he had not seen yet,
Then after removing my two jackets, to give access to my leather pants ,
Which I had to undo to get to the back pocket of my jeans,
I pulled out my wallet, and looked for my license,
    ""Damn thats right, sorry officer,
I put it in my jacket pocket in case I was stopped.""
I produced my License and handed it to him.
He noticed I was on a learners, as he went to the back of my bike to check for Vehicle licence and WOF
Which were clearly visible and up to date.
"mmmm" I see you are not displaying a learners label
And what is the CC rating of this bike?"
" Oh sorry officer, its a 250 as the license label reads"
I lifted my helmet off my back rest which very clearly displayed my learners label.
"And here is my label, as per requirements of my license"
In all it took probably 5 min to do this, and I could see that it was an annoyance,
But as I knew I was 100% legit, bike only 650kiliometers old,
    What had I to fear?
What was the reason for being stopped?
Checking Licenses and WOF. nothing else.

While he was dealing with me another 5 bikes had ridden past,
maybe my slothisim helped another rider, and reminded the officer of how dumb this whole enforcement thing is.
