One of my clients a few years ago was Iranian. The nicest man you'd ever meet. His family left Iran when the Shah was deposed whch I think was in 1975 or 1976 with only the clothes they were wearing and what they could carry.

We talked about why he and his family were quite successful, had integrated (he married a kiwi chick) and were fairly happy. His take on it was that refugees dont want to come to NZ: they dont actually want to go anywhere, so they always have this "home is better" thing, even though it is self evidently not, otherwise why would they have had to leave, so they want to retain their traditions and culture, even if those practices are entirely at odds with the wider NZ culture. So we get lunatics wearing burkas and at the extreme end, appalling stuff like female genital mutilation. And of course lily livered multiculturalism and political correctness says "well, you know, its their culture and we should respect that, instead of saying "Actually, that is some fucked up third world, stone age, misogynist crap, and you cant do that here and we won't allow it"*. The other point he made was education is the saviour of any situation: if they were the underclass where they came from, and unless efforts are really made for them to not be the underclass here then that is perpetuated, to no-ones advantage, least of all NZ society at large.

One of my clients a few years ago was Iranian.

I have lots of Iranian and Iraqi mates (makes for interesting parties) and its funny because when they move here many actually become good friends.....the whole 2 degrees of separation thing here. You have to get on.

But Somalians are a different kettle of fish altogether. EVERY SINGLE DEALING I HAVE HAD WITH A SOMALIAN HAS LEFT ME WITH A NEED TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF SOMETHING.
They have a very fucked up mentality. Most are Refugee status here, and use that to its full potential. You give them a hand, they take your arm.....and then tell you to fuck off.
If they find a crack in something, they will shove a knife in it and lever it left and right until they have a massive hole. System loop holes in NZ are not small advantage for Somalians......they are the metro system.

Mate had his ZZR400 t-boned by a Somalian a few years ago. She had no insurance, no license and was not suppose to be driving or own a car due to refugee status. Went to court, they agreed that they would pay $20/wk to him. No money turned up. So went back to court - they said that their refugee payments did not cover their expenses, but agreed they would from now on.
Mate got fed up and tracked down the address. Turns out the refugee payments were paying off a mortgage on a $400K home.....which they had just sold......as they left for Australia.

This is just one of dozens of various delightful encounters I have had with Somalians.
