    Dodgey decompression cable

Ive just got a bike to putt about on the farm .I noticed the other day that after it not starting &n trying to bump start it & losing compression & still not starting, that the decompression cable thru incorrect placement had had a wee meltdown on the header....
Further examination revealed that the whole cable was "worn" & no discernable movement of the cable was seen when kicking thru the stroke though the activator arm on the kicket start did go thru a "movement". Fucked Id say?
Now...can i start it with the decomopression system disconected either by kicking or bumping & will it cause any damage to da mota ?
Can a bike get stuck in decompression mode so tha it justkicks thru with no feeling of TDC?
With it disconected there seems to be compression again....

    Wot bike?
Most manual decomp bikes can be started without the cable.
    Ease it up onto TDC
    Ease it past TDC
Kick it like a smelly farting dog.

    Wait for the kick back
So long as there is freeplay movement on the decomp shaft, you shouldn't do any cam/valve damage.
