Yeah - makes living in a dump like Brisbane bearable :-)
I enjoy the training as much as he does. It's just nice to have a dog that's under control.

Zedman's collection in the Bike Vault in Auckland. CX6fiddy Turbo.

Got any tips? My dog is very stubborn. She knows I am pack leader and will do what I want, but to hell with any other family members! Their problem I guess! Just as well she has a very laid back nature.

    Treats.

I used to have German Shepherds and other big dogs. Back in the 80's training was all about discipline and choker chains and being hard.

The treats and rewards based ways of today are so much better and more effective.

    Liver treats - nom-nom-nom

Dog really concentrates to get them.

+1 Reward the dog. Shmackos are like doggy crack too for some reason.

A good rule is to make sure that you always release your dog from a command, tell it to sit, lie down, heel etc & do not let it move until you say so. Be 100% consistent. Just remember, though, if your leaving for work, to release the dog from command, poor wee bugger could end up sitting for hours....

Ted the terrorist terrier doesent give a brass razzo about treats. A tennis ball or chew toy is his carrot.

Ha! Looks cheeky. Retired to my scratcher last night too find one of the mesh curtains torn in half & strewn all over the bedroom. No idea how the dog managed to rip it without pulling down the curtain rail. Makes a change from decimating toilet rolls I guess.

Yeah - Police Dogs get a ball to play with briefly as their reward.

Doogle's chew toy is part of our training too - hide and seek. It's also what the retriever in him brings to me for attention.

The best bet is to find something she likes chewing better and make it readily available and encourage it. Rope chew-toys worked for us.
I still can't leave socks in my shoes though.

This is Maddie & Rogan on the right with their friend Cooper who stayed with us a while some four years ago. Cooper had issues, a bit like my other half who was responsible for the outfits, Honest
