    Aprilia RS 50/80

Hi guys, I'm looking at bike options to get my son into F4 next year when he's 13. I've found a few NSR80s overseas that I can import, and I've also been looking at Aprilia RS50s. Is it within the rules to make an Aprilia 50cc into an 80cc with a barrel and piston kit? Would it be eligible for F4? I've seen Aprilia in the Bucket List ....but not as an 80cc.

As a 50 it is an f5 bike and as an 80 an f4.
Non competition, so if it is an 80cc race kit then nay. If it is a road bike kit or bored std with bigger slug (pistons are open) Yay!

I'll look into what kits are available for the Aprilia 50s....find out if I can get one that's not a race kit. NSRs would still be my preferred choice, the company I'm dealing with in Japan can send NSF100 Bodywork over with them (Makes them look good for the Sponsors). The 80s are a little hard to get at a good price, but they have hundreds of NSR50s. I was thinking of re-powering them once they arrive here ....not sure what I would fit though, maybe an XR80 engine?

(RDjase) I've been looking at that bike...I'm surprised it hasn't gone already. I haven't called him yet to find out anything about it...I might do that today.

There is a plan being formed that could see more bike in F4 and F5....I'm a bit apprehensive about saying to much until I'm sure on a few more details. I've had to change tack so many times to get to this point with the idea, and some people see flexibly as being indecisive.

I want to get more kids into the sport, and I'm working on a Junior Team for next year. Being Corporate Sponsored means the Team is obligated to actively promote its Sponsors through the year....this gets the bikes out on display in public view, hence "having to look good for the Sponsors", and promotes the sport at the same time. I'm planning on having my Son, and One other rider out in May next year, then Two more kids for 2014.

I can import NSRs, YSRs, and Suzuki GAGs (the early GSXR replicas). The way I see it....if the sport becomes really popular, the bikes need to be here to support the interest! I was looking at the Aprilia as a back up in case the Japanese imports got messy....but things are solid with those now.

I'll start a new tread here in the next week or Two, and put the whole idea forward for you guys to comment on ok.

Back to NSR / XR80-100s. They seem like the way to go really. Might be great to see some 50cc NSRs around for F5 and convert some for F4 as well.

Great just what we need, more 13 year old, weighing in at 50kg ringing wet, with no fear and no job to go to on Monday. Further down the grid I go

So just to ask a question, do you also have access to a supply of XR100 engines?
