I saw the thread title and wondered if you were talking about me, but no its not a ute terrorising wellington.

Its a hard to follow whinge, but you were getting shitty because he was doingjust under the speed limit? on a weekend? when all the cops are out looking for people going over said limit? pick your moments to go blasting past cars on the open road. For your sake, not on roads with cover for cars on the side of the road.

I learned, apparently its not that hard?

Nah, patrol cars are kingswoods and highway cars are mitsi tredias. Going undercover down here involves removing the lights and sticking some magnetic stickers over the police logo.

I am some way back (luckily) and see the whole sad story.
$230 fine, 35 demerits for 30 kms over the limit. This on a Triumph Bonneville se - who thought they got up to speed so fast!
For reference, this is someone who only speeds when passing, I ride with her most rides.
I pulled over out of sight to wait for her and here she comes dead on 100 with the cop behind her and 4/5 cars busy passing them both. Cop not interested in the cars but when I pulled in behind him he slowed down to 90-95.
He eventually got sick of me and my 2 second gap and pulled over.
    Is this entrapment or what?!

Usually I get them behind me, too close, trying to tempt me to go faster so this was a whole new experience.
You're obviously a very astute judge of other vehicles speed??

Just a new bike with my very first digital speedo. Hard to take my eyes off it.

Well the tickets done the job, I'll probably be riding alone till she gets her confidence back (or the 2 years are up).

How accurate are these things anyways, mate's son got a ticket for 106 and when tested the van only got up to 95.
$30 fine so not taking it any further.

Me too. Funniest ticket I ever got was years ago on my X7 when I worked at Boyle Kawasaki. I'd been telling them what an awesome wee wheelie machine it was, and they told me how full of shit I was. So come lunch time, I went round the Basin Reserve, stopped just before their shop on Adelaide Road, checked for traffic & Cops, then hoisted the old girl up and wheelied all the way up to Sawyer Honda some 300 metres down the road.

Turns out a Black and White had come round the Basin just in time to follow me up the road with lights flashing.

When I got back after being booked for careless use of a motor vehicle some ten mins later, the Boyle Bros were still pissing themselves.

    Yup, I know that car

Its got the disco lights actually built into the original tail lights etc, so its a very effective muffty car.
But for the record, The guy driving is actually very nice and DOES look out for bikes!. (Seen it many times my self)

Want proof?...Cos on three occasions that Ive been involved with, he has acted very professionally and ensured my safety while traveling home to my family

    1. I had some prick trying to "mount" me on his bonet (following so close I was about to pull over just to let him past, driver was ignoring my wave & brake light waring)
The "green popo" was coming the other way, He didn't hesitate!, lights came on, he spun around and pulled the guy over...he even stuck his hand out the window to give me a wee wave

    2. I was going through wood end and he had pulled some boy racer over, kid threw his door open as I approached, the cop immediately jumped forward and shut it! even gave me a nod as I went past

3.Best for last!, I Had him following me just out of woodend and I saw 2 of those huge tourist campervans indicating to pulling over on a left hand courner waaay ahead on the HIGHWAY!, I know the road VERY well and there was no way in hell for them get even HALF the trucks width off the road in that spot, and it could have meant a possible head on for other road users due to traffic having to cross the centre line to get past. (I was also expecting a door in the face as I went past)
...it had been pissing down all day so the road was slick, and my "little voice" was screaming out "DANGER!"
So I pulled left, slowed right down and pointed ahead...sure enough the "green popo" lit up the lights and shot past with a freindly toot and immediately pulled in behind the 2 campers (now stopped and sure enough blocking half the road on a left hand courner...very dangerous!..and bloody stupid!)

So there ya go...Clear proof this guy is not only good at his job, but really DOES look out for us bikes and dosn't just "target" motorcyclists.

....if your not speeding, ya don't get speed tickets...it really IS that simple

Ride Safe KBers ....and respect their authoritah!

    ...I lean into it!
