Re the wind. I started this thread and got some good advise. http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ht=handle+wind

Now it doesnt bother me at all, just relax. The bike is designed to go straight so a gust just makes it feel like the bikes fighting you. Its not, thats your reaction to the wind not the bike.

    And watch this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FiPg...feature=digest

Then just ride the bike. I only use my car these days when I have my kids.

Left my place around 3, round the bays, all the way to devils gate out to makara via aro valley then back home again.

Some morons has crashed out at makara in a van, and I got breath tested on the way home as well. I decided to go around oriental bay again. Zero reading, of course.

I haven't been paying any attention to the tag. I'm sorry. I discovered I like makara to town. I like being able to see around the corners it seems. I get nervous when I can't see around them for some reason.

I'm absolutely wiped out from riding for about 3 hours on top of a cold and working today. Going to bed with the sounds of pink floyd to drown out my flatmate

So, its meant to be raining tomorrow. I'm riding to work anyway.

    Any passing wisdom?

So far all I can think is be more careful with each movement, and give myself more time to get up to speed and slow down. Stay away from paint and other road markers, and man hole covers. Oh, and be really careful with the throttle! I don't think I've missed anything?

I don't have wet gear. Maybe I should just walk. Yes my planning is usually this sporadic.

I do on the other hand have a gym bag at work with a clean towel and some clean uniform in it, so maybe I should just do it? Its not far

Those that assume there is nothing around those corners that may harm them ... or obstruct their movement along the road ... may sometimes find ... that assumption incorrect. THEN ... proclaim themselves not at fault as the event could not be predicted.

The mere thought that something (not always a vehicle) is around that corner ... will give you a half second extra advantage when you need it ... because you were expecting it.

So my being nervous is just an instinct for self preservation. Hah. I haven't found that in quite some time. This would be evidenced by the bruise from binning yet another mountain bike. One day I'll learn

You get at least as wet walking as riding, and spend way longer getting rained on.

Just ride and don't do anything stupid, you'll be fine.
