Nah mate, you're not wasting your time. Clubmans is for ppl like you. As long as you don't go in thinking about winning and getting all the glory (haha) and think to yourself that you are there to be part of a race meeting without the stress of being too competitive. It maybe should be thought of as a timed and very organised track day session........................having no points etc should make ppl want to move into a real class, if only just to see if they can cut the mustard and improve further.
Thats my view on Club meetings, Nats I see a slightly different view.
Agree and disagree with the clubmans statements above.
At the 1st round of south island cup i took my 600 along and entered F2 (which is actually F1 & F2 combined), hadnt ridden for 6 months and only had maybe an hours riding time on a 600.
Didnt get last, but was a good 4 + seconds a lap slower than the leaders and was pretty much riding by myself.
Decided to go in clubmans for R2 & 3, started at the back as i didnt have a grid position, worked my way up to 3rd and didnt push anyone out fo the way getting there.
R3 i started in 3rd (start where you finish was the grids for the day) took the hole shot and never got passed, so again riding by myself, was a good feeling taking the checkered though.
My racing used to be competitive but now im on a 6 year old bike and there is no way i would be competitive in F2 (not to say i wont enter it though).
As long as i am battling with someone i enjoy the racing, even if it is for last.
So... i was far too slow for F2 and maybe just a little quick for clubmans (im guessing this is the case for many)
Am i a burglar?
I didnt care if i won the class or not, i just thought i would have more people to battle with in clubmans.
Bring on the weekend
Interesting to hear the comments re: clubmans...as it is something I have been thinking about. Personally, I would see it as a way to get into racing and improve myself as opposed to actually winning anything or becoming a superstar, therefore if show ponies want to come along on their GSXCBR1 with full Ohlins underwear and show me how slow I am compared to them...then I couldn't give a shit. As long as they don't take me out with their show boating, go for it...at least I can cheat and learn from the lines used by the more experienced racers.
I love the whole "run what you brung" thing though, kinda keeps the racing lighthearted and not too serious (or at least it's supposed to...)
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
You bloody decided to take away transponders from clubmans you tosser-no effect on me given I don't race clubmans at local level anyhow, I hate bullies and stick up for both myself and people being picked on, especially by meglamaniacs like you. Next time you are down here you know where to find me........... As for Mark Taylor, an ex NZ class champion on a world class superbike cutting up and forcing off the track lesser riders, and without sanction. you remember 20 odd clubbies in your face about it at the time?- your response at the time was that" you are only clubmans and don't count, that you have no importance and don't really need to be there"- yeah now you are really pissing me off. I (and a few other people by the way) remember you sneaking around the pits and disconnecting tyre warmers when no one was looking cause you decided to ease the strain on the Ruapuna track generator..........Ha Ha, you never knew that Marie went around plugging them back in again........ fuck me, off here for 5 minutes and come back to find you lurking, how unfortunate.
Speed kills-just ask the rabbit......
You may be confusing Clubmans at local level with National Clubmans (maybe?), Clubbies at local level is not sub 40 and there is a whole bunch of speeds, bike types, reasons to be on the track, no real pressure or carving up ect, you would be fine, not alot different to a friday practice on a busy day.
Speed kills-just ask the rabbit......
Clubmans at the 2012 Nats ( as opposed to clubbies at local levels) RSV4 Aprilia's, 1098R, BMW1000RR's, RSV Millie thous, ZX10, an ex Brian Bernard R1,and a bunch of GSXR 1000's yep, my bike was a bit extreme......... Did the first round on the GSXR,won two races, did Levels on my 675 could only manage 4th at best, and wound up doing Tere on my 675 managed second once, at levels and Tere got absolutely killed by the superbikes. Don't bring a knife to a gunfight. (even if it is sharp!)

This thread has gone waaay off topic -Um I thought I'd ask the question re clubbie http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...post1130315548
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
Yeah, this thread was about selling a bike originally.
No real answer without actuall rules, rule of thumb might be if you are not running at the front of clubbies, stay there, if you are at the front all the time, maybe you go to your formula class, trouble is you can wind up in that grey area, too fast for one, too slow for the other, and you learn nothing from riding around by yourself waiting for the fast guys to lap you. Would rather battle than "do laps " waiting. Do what makes you feel comfortable is the best answer I've got, without proper rules.

Again Andy you are wrong, but I suppose if you spend your life as a blamer then your view on things will always be that way inclined. Why would I want to find you next time I'm down in Chch ? I normally enjoy my trips to the South Island, associate with like minded people, ride my KTM and have fun , seeking you out is not a high priority for me, sorry if that leaves you feeling unloved. With regards to your distorted comments, I will clarify what actually happened and why. Clubmans was becoming a problem for the Club because the level of competition was becoming to intense and some (yourself being the main perpetrator ) were treating the class way to seriously,2 bikes , wets etc etc. The decision was made by the committee to remove the competition aspect from the class by not scoring it as a Club championship. If riders wanted to run a transponder they could and they would be timed but not scored. This is quite different to your view on things, but again after reading your post I now understand that your thought process is quite narcisstic and you don't mind a good story getting in the way of the truth. Who went into Clubmans is at the discretion of the Steward and the class became what it should have been, a class for new and learning riders or riders that were just wanting to have fun and enjoy their day at the track at a low key level. Like I have already stated, most riders (you not being one of them) were happy to move into their respective class. I'm sorry this change meant you could no longer be the Motorcycling Canterbury Clubmans champion, I was unaware of the psychological effect this had on you and apologise for the fact Motorcycling Canterbury failed to supply the correct medication to help you overcome this traumatic event. Your recollection of the Timaru event is also clouded. There weren't 20 Clubbies in my face for your information Andy, you were the one doing all the grandstanding, no one else. The point I made was you complained about the very thing people were complaining about you, forget the incidentals of who and why etc etc the principal stands, Clubmans is a fun class not a soft out for riders who want to look good. The Clubmans championship at the 3 South Island National rounds was actually my idea Andy as was the Mcleary Cup for Streetstock so your comments about "your only clubbies etc etc" is also incorrect.
Now I understand fully the mental anquish you suffered at loosing your status as King of Clubmans I have a better understanding of your personal fragilities. FYI I have checked with the current committe at MCI and the rules for Clubmans (non scored fun class) are still in place and work very well for the riders the class is there to accomodate. As to unplugging tyre warmers again another mistruth from the mind of a post traumatic stress victim suffering from paranoia. I have attatched a link:
http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Ne...ikes-for-sale/ Both stoner and rossi's 2010 and 2011 moto gp Ducati's are for sale , maybe you could buy one and enter in Clubmans , it may help your rehabilitation. Get well soon. Mick
Bwahahahaha, fuck you're a funny cunt Mick. Great post.
