Given that you're an enormous cunt and don't drink, I take responsibility for you in my drinking too.

I figure, if I don't drink it, someone else might. Now they might get crook, I don't want that on my conscience!

Don't drink, never have. Might start someday but right now I'd just rather just not.
At social gatherings I just have some energy drink or juice and that's fine. If I'm asked why I'm not drinking I just tell them its because I've chosen not to. They accept that easily enough and I have a great time watching everyone else go all dribbley and stupid

Couple of glasses of 'Main Divide' reisling during and after tea with a bourbon and L&P about an hour ago. That'll do me for the night.

I don't drink much these days.

Didn't like the damage it did to my liver. No chance of ever getting DIC these days. Save heaps of money and I always used to eat a lot more with a glass of wine in my hand.

I appreciate all the feedback, and the suggestions will come in handy as I start a new sober journey. I like the sodastream idea. Gives me something to drink on my birthday night!
Maybe there is no 'one fix' fits all... there's now a thing called 'reduction of harm'.. by reducing intake.. It's like smoking, if you only have 1 ciggie a week, your STILL a Smoker. Like everyone generally I used to drink a fair bit at weekends when younger.. I stopped after a 'scare',,, I still drink but dont get 'drunk' and can go months without even looking at a bottle of wine, scotch or beer.
Went to a party in my mid/late 20's and did a large bottle of jack over about 2.5hrs just sipping it. The Guys took my bike keys, tried to order me a taxi but I was going to 'walk home'... I was told I was so pissed I was bouncing side to side off the walls of a narrow hallway... and was going to 'ride home'? I cant even remember that. Anyway I had about a 3.25 k walk home on an almost straight road,,, it was winter, wet and cold (England) I took 4.5 hrs to get home.. didnt fall over, get wet, sleep in a garden etc... but I have about 5-6hrs of my life completely missing. I NEVER want to be THAT out of control of my life again. Had I been a female, well it doesn't take a lot of imagination to work out the 'possibles'.....
I actually 'hate' parties and pub's my tolerance for peoples drunken loud behaviour is practically ZERO now. I cant give a magic formula GM, I simply made a decision and chose to never get that way, or seriously drunk again.
Nowadays I am like another poster... booze Vs Petrol for a ride... Ride wins every time.

I have a glass or two a few times a year and nothing more. Any drinking beyond that just makes me feel ill....

Yeh aint that the truth, if I drink a bottle of wine in an evening now, I lose at least half the next day feeling 'seedy'....

It costs me less than $1 to get very drunk as I can make a litre of vodka for just under $2. I laugh at the fools who pay for alcohol.
