It's still buckets but things have moved on.
People had the same to of comments to make about enduros when I was riding those.
"back in my day you used to ride your bike to the forest, take the lights off, then race, then only five out of the hundred and seventy starters would finish"
Of course back then a bike cost three weeks wages not three months and the sport was full of young guys who could afford to not turn up at work on Monday.
Any sort of Motorsport now, including buckets, which is the cheapest and most enjoyable I've found, has become way less affordable. Not sure if there is anyone in the country competing that's in a good old blue collar, minimum wage job but I doubt it.

Some people would need to download an app to fit a sparkplug and still crossthread it

    Yeah......me
Sometimes you wish it was easier, but if it was, everyone else would do it, then you remember you don't want to be like everybody else!

When I started there was a sort of a +7yr old rumour, then all these whipper-snappers started turning up with RG50s. -heck they were $1700 & I couldn't afford that, my MB50 was $250. But they were good for the sport & I bought one when they got to $400. Actually my first one was $450 but that was my roadbike. FXRs were obviously next & they were new when the first one showed up at buckets. So be it.

4k is a bit of a roast thought. Oh well, I'll still be racing my 26 year old RG50, - 'course they were old stock at the time dumped in NZ & were released at the same time as the RG250 Gammas. Heck almost pre-82 eligible.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

Dont tempt me, - some of the best racing i have had has been in buckets, but my free & friendly engineer has retired and i wouldnt dare enter the hectic development class that is buckets without him.........
