As for the pretentious, farty, sweaty, annoying grunters, and mirror sluts? I avoid them by going to the gym at 5am – the joys of having 24hr access. So by the time I have finished my workouts the pretentious can pose, fart, sweat, grunt and slut around all they like.
    there's a 5 a.m. ????

Best gym I have been to

    http://www.waiweight.com/

Bev's a top guy, The gear is new and kept in great shape, the prices is so low its not funny, and even though its a "private" gym its better patronaged then the "public" gyms.

I'd still be going there if I had stayed in the Wairarapa.

Now I go to the city Gym in Wanganui, no pretentious shit there, Its too cheap.

My gym is one of the cheaper ones with archaic equipment ... not known for 'pretentiousness' so much but more for its fartacious members.

    I know right!

I actually think I suffer from sleepgyming ... so 5 a.m doesn't really exist in my world either.

Skip a week of exercise though and the metabolism starts slowing down and I need the pills at the regular prescribed dose.

I've gone from a portly 122kgs to a marginally fit 105kgs... Been told by docs 90kgs is right for my height (6' 1") but I'll be happy to reach 100kgs and work on reducing the body fat instead of weight.

I'd like to build up my strength though, as I was caught out with the bike tipping over this past weekend and found lifting it difficult...

Good work that man. I'm 6' and down to 93kg now but the last 3kg is hard to shift plus its just a number, its how you feel and function thats really important.

Building up muscle will speed up your metabolism so hit the weights hard. If you do bulk up a bit you can forget the 90kg lark - go with what looks right ;-)

btw - I was working on a diabetics guide to the gym once. Everyone was really interested until I asked them to contribute....

I go to Anytime Fitness (24hrs) with a friend to spot each other but sometimes at night when I am up late or bored I go alone. At around 2am there is no one, and feels like a private gym.

No comparing or such. Just me dealing myself.

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

Mostly I feel good, except would like to be a bit stronger to manhandle the bike easier.

I think the extent I've managed to go is just to firm up and shed some fat rather than getting close to bulking up. Maybe I should do that though, concentrating on bulking up - I mean, without steroids, I wouldn't need to worrry about ending up like Arnie, right?

And yep, boxing is the best form of core strength and cardio I've ever experienced!
That's the one, it's five minutes walk from work...and ten minutes back.

Good friendly crowd, Monty Betham turned up towards the end as well, top, down to earth bloke he is.

Got footy training at 6.30, tomorrow will be interesting.

OK so right now yr feelin great, self righteously exhausted and you know you've found the right path.
this time tmrw tho, you won't be able to bend down and pick up a feather without your quads, calfes and back screaming at you. DAMHIK:roll eyes:

But if you keep it regular, that goes away and you get to keep the self righteously exhausted stuff.
    All Good.

I've recovered better than I expected. Backing up at footy (round ball) same day was tough but probably a good thing to do from that pov...I'm suffering nothing worse than a bit of unaccustomed soreness in shoulders and pecs.

Need to juggle in a couple of sessions per week I think so I ca justify some cool gloves.

Footy under lights at Mt Albert tonight, instead of tomorrow arvo, wasn't in the planning but...

used to go a lot when I played rugger. Lots of strength work, and eating heaps and drinking those weight gain supplements to keep my weight up. If I didn't do the weights my weight would go to about 95kgs whereas with the gym program it would be about 105-110kg, which is where it is now sitting on my ass
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
