    Short term accommodation in Hamilton?

After 40 years away from formal study I have taken the plunge and I'm returning to university to complete my Post grad research at Waikato University part time. So I'm looking for somewhere cheap to stay in Hamilton for the first two weeks in July initially, and then a few times per year after that.

I don't need luxury, just warm, dry and quiet.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Malcolm,
Sorry, can't help you with Hamilton accommodation but if you want friendly faces at the weekends or any other time come to that, you're always guaranteed a great feed and a warm bed at our place. Best wishes with the research - atmospheric physics?

    Thanks Geoff,

I may just be able to pop over. I'm working towards my PhD on climatic effects on Southern Alps rivers with respect to Flooding frequency, intensity and duration. Because its been so long away from Uni, the first year will be pretty intense and include a post grad cert with directed research. I don't yet know exactly what the professor will assign me for that part.

We'd love to see you any time - Jennie's currently in Europe but she'll be back later in June anyway.

I wasn't too far out then! Every good wish for entering study after all that time, although the profession you're in has got to help. Don't think I'd be up for any more academic study now - get my pension towards the end of this year

If you can't find anything we have a fold out couch in a spare room across the road from the Uni.

You would have to be really desperate to want to stay here though haha.

Me n kanny are a bit far away from the uni, (read 45+k away), but we also offer you a scrummy feed, and bed anytime you want to escape for a night or two.
Still recall our brief meet up a few years back.
PM me when you get up here, and i'll ask around re accom

If it's over winter then any of the backpackers in town will do a good deal Mal, certainly for ongoing 5 day stays. You should be able to secure a bed for around $20 per night.
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
