Dale Kerrigan: If there's anything Dad loved more than serenity, it was a big two stroke engine on full throttle!
It was a readers special in PB mag some years back.
Rear mounts line up apparently. Upper front mounts need fabricating.
Standard CV carbs require some trimming to fit in the frame and airbox of course is a non starter.
He even used a 5.5 rear...and the whole thing was very rideable.
The first CBR600, whilst a lovely road bike was a piece of shite in terms of its chassis compared to the same aged 400 so it made a lot of sense to graft the motor. The CBR900 was a well sorted and light piece of kit straight out the crate.....what would be the point sticking it in a 400 frame?
Can we turbo or supercharge something and stick it on track.....would be far more fun.

The 900 wasnt as nice as some think especially to race , it was a shocking steerer and it behaved badly over bumps for some reason. The 400 has almost the same size forks as it did.
The reason i want to do a 900 / 400 or whatever is twofold, like the bike i built you its a project for me, and to some extent a " shove that in ya face " move to the soothsayers that say i know not what i do and i am a nothing in the bike world. Its like calling card much like my original CB400/4 which in race trim was showing almost 50 Hp and could hold its own with much newer and bigger bikes.
The other aspect is it would be fucking great fun to try and tame the piece of heathanistic beast dont you agree . I may even un-retire to have a blast on it.
Bring on the little guy with attitude and then put a shit load of power into it lol.

Nek minnit, big frame.
From the NC30/RC30 age the frame gets all beefy; about the same as other contemporary bikes.
Is this just the direction development of frames went in around that time or is it an indication Honda expected the engine to contribute to the rigidity of the bike but that failed? Is it just to sell bikes on the trendy image of the time?
Rhetorical questions really, just thinking about it.
EDIT: V4s carry their weight well but are heavy as all hell. A triumph in marketing over real-world performance?
