East Cape, if you want 95 octane, you really want to run from Opotiki round to Gisborne... 360km ish... instead you have to go hunting in Hicks Bay (91 only), Te Araroa (who can be bastards at times) etc.

I've been pondering this in the back of me 'ead for a few days.

Conclusion: Yep - I did those rides twice in 11 years in NZ.

    I did 150km day-rides weekly.

If you live in those places and do those rides regular-like - it's not the right bike.

But really, that's only a small % of 'us'.

A hyabusa wouldn't surprise it - you'd see it in the mirrors.

Maybe Honda was trying a different approach to multiple bike ownership?

The VFR1200 for the sporty rides and the ST1300 for days when you rack up big kays maybe? With that approach it may lead me to a K1600GT for a combination of both....

So, quoting myself here - seems they do depreciate bloody quick with some basically new ones on TM for $15k.

Anyone here bought one and have any long term experience to share?

Do a search on bike specific forums, I believe there are issues around the fuel gauge that Honda is denying, but I spoke to one owner who said it showed full until getting empty... reckoned he could know better by simply looking in the tank...

As with any guage, for me personally, I know they can fail, so I always reset the trip meter. Then I always know approximatly how many k's left.
I even do this in the 4 wheel vehicles.

I do give you though, it should not be a coman fault on a brand new bike....

remember going from a Bantam with its front brake (term 'brake' used advisedly) and then to a Honda CB160 with a twin leading front shoe which was a bit of an eye opener
