Maybe wot crasher says, come back on a Suzuki MotoGP bike - Suzuki must be losing much face against Honda and Yamaha for not even competing. They just need a breakthrough like when they built the first RG500 bikes back in the 70s and lept to the top of the pile for a while. Surely there is something different they can do with a 4 stroke that might make a difference?
    Cheers

Being different didn't work when they were out there last time did it? Only manufacturer not running a cross plane, or a big bang motor, and getting their arse handed to them.

The V4 had an inherent uneven firing order anyway so it was part way there, but what else weren't they doing well? Electronics, type of fuel injection, weight distribution, pneumatic valves - who knows? What were the other guys doing better? That's what they need to trounce.

Suzuki fans need to support them more - us Honda blokes are quite happy as usual already, but Honda never rests on its laurels and nor does it seem do Yamaha.

The advances with the M1 over 10 years have been more marked than with the Hondas because the RC211V started out so good and the following models didn't have as much catchup as the M1 did.

Perhaps, but only at gp level. The CBR1000 got a big upgrade and the road bike is still boring and slow compared to the rest.

Well recently Spies was from Texas - he could race a Kraut bike and drink local German beer
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoetzl_Brewery

Or seeing he was born in Tennessee he could return home as a Kraut bike rider and be the celebrity judge at this

BOMBSHELL. Spies: I Have Chosen To Leave Yamaha At the End of the Season

    Tuesday, July 24, 2012
American Ben Spies said this morning that he won't be riding for Yamaha in MotoGP next season, that he has made the decision to leave the factory Yamaha team at the end of the 2012 season.

Spies said via email this morning:

Yesterday I made a comment on Twitter to cause a stir. (Today) I'll be more in saying that I have chosen to leave Yamaha after this season for a litany of reasons. I will explain more when I feel it is appropriate. I'm discussing my situation with my sponsors and they are behind me. There are a few people at Yamaha who I hate to leave. And they know who they are. I wish Yamaha the best. I won't make any further comments until the official announcement comes out.

Spies won the World Superbike championship for Yamaha in 2009--his rookie season in WSBK. That remains Yamaha's only WSBK title. Spies also scored rookie of the year honors in Grand Prix in 2010 and also won the Dutch TT last season.

He also nearly won the final Grand Prix of the 2011 season at Valencia, but was beaten to the line by World Champion Casey Stoner.

Put Dovi on his bike :-)
RIP Phil (Pinky) SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND.

Yeah Merv it's not a comforting read is it. Because it does have a ring that all is not well in the MotoGP environment.

Riders would sell their first born for a MotoGP ride but Stoner has said, "I'm outa here" - and now I reckopn Ben may well be saying that too.
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.
