"Watching the two men circulate provides a stunning contrast, and is a thing of beauty to behold. Lorenzo, at his most 'Mantequilla' is smooth as butter on a summer's day. He never looks like he is trying, riding more like he was being scored for style than racing a motorcycle at the outer limits of its performance envelope. Stoner, on the other hand, punishes the Honda RC213V beneath him as if he had been taking lessons from Torquemada. His style is wild, ragged, throwing the bike around and letting it squirm and wriggle like a captured eel. Lorenzo rounds the corners with the grand sweeping gestures of a medieval nobleman, while Stoner flings the bike into the corner, squares it off, and squirts it out like a Victorian pugilist, doing it what it takes to beat the corner into submission. Though there may not be passing on every lap, yet there is great aesthetic appeal in watching the two best motorcycle racers of the moment slug it out."
Very well put indeed. Watching that race I wondered how could anyone not say they enjoyed that. The two different styles were well showcased and no matter who won - we saw two great racers and competitors going at it.

BUT, who is going to step up in 2013 and take it to Jorge??
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

If only poor old Simo was still around! But I reckon Stoners replacement might have the goods. If someone doesn't knock his block off first. Take him most of the first season to get up to speed though I reckon.

I tend to agree with Nicky Hayden's assessment more than David's hyperbole on this occasion.
“When people talk about Stoner, they say you gotta be aggressive, and really work that Ducati. But when you saw Stoner go fast on the Ducati he let the bike move, the bike moved but he didn't. He was smooth. You know, his body, he never fought the bike, he let the bike just move under him.”
Stoner may let the bike “squirm and wriggle”, but he himself is actually quite smooth on top of it. (Granted, he's not like La Mantequilla.) Still, stunning to watch them race together.

That first lap shot of all the bikes coming over the corkscrew is always great to watch too.

As for who's going to step up... A young upstart perhaps? Maybe a veteran may get to run up the front again too...

Ps: You moan about his moaning as much as he moans.
I am envious of him for everything except his missus, but that aint why I have a problem with his attitude. I just don't get him I guess.

    I don't hate him, I don't know him.

I make jokes about his moaning, well...every time he talks to the press. I think it's funny, cos it's true.

I often think this in qualifying when there are no other riders around him. The number of times it has looked like he is riding slowly back to the pits, only to set a new fastest lap.

It really is pretty to watch.

And I'm in awe of his riding every time he rides. Cause it's true. Get it?

Lorenzo may look effortless, but that wee moment on the entry to the corkscrew shows he really is trying fucking hard (not often you see Lorenzo have a moment!)

I reckon Marquez will go well and while he isn't my favourite, I look forward to seeing him kick some ass

And how can you not be jealous of stoner and his wife....I am

Dobbi talks about his chances of a Yamaha factory ride:

"This is what I expected, but it looks like Valentino is really close. So I don’t know exactly; it’s not fixed. This is really bad for me because I swapped to Yamaha because I believed I can find a place in the factory team."

George is pushing alright, he's just so smooth, and he does it so progressively that he looks to be out for a Sunday ride.

Don't have an opinion on Marquez, I don't watch the Moto2.

Mrs Stoner doesn't do it for me, each to their own.

I find it very hard to believe that Yamaha are even considering a Rossi/Lorenzo team, but I think if you put Dovi on a factory machine, they'll have the same problem as 2010 anyway.

Considering Rossi told Yamaha "It's him or me" in 2010, I find it very funny he'll even consider going back as their number two rider. I think Dovi is fucking good. But I don't think he's Lorenzo good. He wasn't Stoner good whilst at HRC.

That's the thing with him though. He was podium good...lots. If he manages to get close to Lorenzo, he'll take gaps that are...less gap like than what others look for. It'll be paint trading racing.
