Casey Stoner about that Ten Sport "story"...

Stoner also used the Indianapolis press conference to 'clarify' a story originating from publications in both the UK and Australia this week, in which Stoner blasted Rossi and his crew chief Jerry Burgess for their inability to improve the Ducati and also accused the seven time MotoGP champion of a 'lack of effort'.

Stoner said the story was not as recent as it appeared, but stood by the comments.

“I want to clarify that,” said Stoner. “There was a lot of context taken out. It was the whole last year and a half. I never did [an] interview and said anything like that last week. I still stand by what I said, but it's been over the last year and a half that it was put together.”

Funny thing is that latest article on Stoner makes him sound quite relaxed and happy to talk about how he sees things without any sign of moaning and just points out the other article wasn't an interview but a pieced together thing by journos, yet all the naysayers come out of the woodwork and post vile comments berating him for what he says - go figure.

This is nothing new go back over 30 years - Phil Read versus Ago in GP or Phil read vs Graeme Crosby at the Isle of Man, or more recently when Carl Fogarty was racing or John Kocinski vs Aaron Slight. One person's "prick" is another person's "hero".

Naturally whoever is winning has the upper hand and depending on personality does different things with it. Stoner got bagged by Rossi so why not repay the compliment. Jorge is happily winning and Rossi couldn't really bag him back when, so Jorge can just stay quietly confident and he does. Dani has not stepped into a championship win so has no win to base any confidence on so rightly goes about quietly trying to get there knowing in the past a few injuries penalised him, but I'd say deep down he knows Stoner and Jorge have him beat. Because he's kept his mouth shut he gets no lip in return.

Its all just law of the jungle. Anyone bagging Stoner now is really practising the "tall poppy syndrome" or their own "small penis syndrome".

Maybe that's why he's so good, perhaps he is a great development rider because he can explain in plain language exactly what the bike is doing and what he needs from it and Honda listen (or is that "risten") to him and respond.

Part of the reason (apart from his balls out riding style) I've been a Stoner fan, is I love seeing a lil Aussie Battler doing it the hard way, with all of the sacrifices he and his family made to get him there. He wasn't born into Moto GP with a silver spoon in his mouth.

The commitment he and his family made and the hardship they all went through is testament to what type of people they are. Fucking champions. Go Stoner!!
