    Brake rotors?

Despite a half hour of trawling posts via search engine and google, I am no closer to answering my own query. Lots of the posts are old and ergo may be out of date.

The Vixen (K8 GSX-R600) probably needs new rotors on the front - got the dreaded pulse pulse pulse thingy.

Since I am now a pore ole grampa wiv only half a hincome, I need replacements that are a compromise between quality and price. No junk please but don't need to be the best in the world IYKWIM.

    Any current suggestions?

    Thanx.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Brake-...9b846a&vxp=mtr The generic aftermarket ones you'll spend $400+ for.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suzuki-08-10...a550bc&vxp=mtr

Same materials but more OEM looking, how boring! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Round-Front-...11a617&vxp=mtr

    EBC for about $310nzd delivered
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-09-Suzuki...bf1ebb&vxp=mtr

Factory part number if you want to go that way is 59210-37H01
This number matches the 08/09 600 and 750, and I believe the 09-10 600 also.

EBC ones are around 250gms lighter

Gotta ask, why is it pulsing ? I wouldn't expect a K8 to need discs yet. Have the discs been off recently ? Grit on the mounting faces ?
New rubber fitted ? Bent on the tyre machine ? Carrier bent from a knock ?
As another tight old bastard, I'd put a DTI on them on the wheel and see what's what before spending hard won pension funds....
If it's the carrier tweaked, it's often possible to get them straight again with careful work.

Thinking along the same lines. Had a pulse on the GSX650F K8 front but since new pads fitted, gone. Pads cheaper than rotor.

Yeah, that's what I was going to suggest. There's been posts on the VFR forum about pulsing brakes caused by wonky pads. If you're going to fit new disks, you'd need new pads anyway, so why not check that out first?
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Right, well that's a good idea, innit. Got the 48k service next week anyway so will have a look. Just me usual jumping to contusions. Thanks all.

Fuck that gook shit... if the OEM discs have managed a thrash happy 48,000km then get another set of them.

Give them a good scrubbing with some light sandpaper and rebed that pads. Check them for thickness too... if they're at minimum throw them away regardless of whether you get them to stop pulsing or not.

Well on my bike being really old you can see if the rotors are warped by just turning the wheel id thought they should be okay if bike

Not that old . on car you can reverse back with brake on not sure that works on bike , but maybe just take pads out give clean.

Clean calibers these good video on youtube for this just need some soapy water and tooth brush .

Pulse is most likely a stuck floater pin or excess pin wear.

Pulse can be build uP of pad material on the rotors. A drill with a rotor hone attachment can fix that have to remove rotors though to do the job and also if they are semi floating buttons they could be full of crap. Spray bottle with hot soapy water while spinning the buttons does wonders. Allows them to semi float again.
