    Auckland buckets this weekend

Rito, we've got the shit talk about Wellington buckets.
who's coming to Mt Wellington this weekend?
Saturday is practice, no engines before 9.30. Sunday is race day, no engines before 9.30. racing will start around lunch time (whatever time we usually do, I dunno, I don't wear a watch).

Saturday will be dependent on how many turn up, what turns up and basically the usual. anyone who wants some time on their own, just let us know.

Make sure you have signed on before heading on the track. fee is $10 AMCC members, $20 non members and motards - for practice day. Race day is more, but more fun.

hopefully the weather will be like the past couple of days, but who knows. See ya there

Keep bagging the gear like that and you might lose your factory ride

See you on the grass somewhere.

I will be there; been long enough too. Will pay good money for someone getting lapped to take out Dave M or Little Diprose. Will have the 50 there as well.

Bloody good day, weather started out a bit crap but cleared up nicely, good battles in all classes and sliding the sidecar both into and out of the infield was a blast.

I had the worlds shortest bucket weekend, suceeding in falling off after 1 1/2 laps of practice getting a partially collapsed lung, a couple of cracked ribs and a mild concussion. The worst bit was I wasn't even trying to go fast, just warming the bike up when the front decided to slap on me a pitched me off. Thanks Henk for checking I was ok and Nick for carting me around various doctors & hospitals.

Next month I will survive practice!

I cracked a rib and broke my foot during a warm up lap on a bucket once.....

    Gah...

Yeah I had the trailer packed and ready to go, but some stuff came up with Racecar. Spent sunday on the mill fixing mistakes in a CNC'd transmission bulkhead that some numpty had made, and replacing bearings in a transmission that said numpty f'd by not checking for runout in a shaft the last time said bearing failed. I will definitely hopefully make it next time. (Oh and said numpty was not me (just for clarification... (brackets within brackets (what is this? inception?(okay I'm done)))))

I don't s'pose anyone found a black goPro box hanging around? It got left there when we were testing the car mid week. Nothing too valuable in it just some mounts and a cable.

And Henk, watch this space for another sidecar. Plans in the works for an FXR powered ground-effect sidecar producing silly downforce (30kg plus). Just need to convince someone to be my partner in crime. We wont be sliding into the infield, the wheels will be firmly planted on the deck. May be outside the edge of rules, given 75mm ground clearance is required, but where is the fun in that?
Now who has some kart wheels?

Not trying to be a complete arse here but if you are going to build a chair build it to the rules, the minimum height is to stop bits grinding into the track surface and I'd hate to have all sidecars thrown out because one did some track damage. If we try and explain to the kart guys that the problem was one illegal rig that was thrown out after the fact they'll be asking us why it wasn't thrown out beforehand.

It will be a big foam-cored fiberglass undertray with a kevlar base hanging down to 20mm above the ground. Other than that the the chair will be in spec. Also will cover the entire underside of chair. Much better even than having nothing at all.

We run an R6 powered car around Mt Welly with an undertray that has an interference fit with the ground (ie scrapes along), and nobody gives a flying fuck. (Also have the supercharged version but currently not running. Soon though, very soon).

Point noted though. Would be a bit of fun to have a stupid sized diffuser tunnels coming out the back of a chair. Also a good learning exercise in CFD.

Also planning to put a rear view camera on so you can have video of yourself racing.

That's all well and good but our days at Mt Wellington are numbered and when we move to the new track at Wiri you'd better believe people will give a flying fuck. On top of that we have enough trouble getting people to stick to the rules regarding nylon etc as it is so I'd be a bit leery of having something else there that was obviously outside the rules to avoid people having the option of pointing at it and saying " but you let him get away with it, why are you picking on me" and if you believe that won't happen you obviously have never been involved in running something with rules where the great unwashed public can rock up and join in. You wouldn't believe the amount of time I spent explaining to people exactly why they couldn't ride dirt bikes in a forest full of ankle breaking stumps why they couldn't ride in gumboots.
