right back at you. Although I perhaps should have quoted the Morgan post/s...
I'm saying that Spyders are as close to a motorbike as makes no difference. And I'd wave to them...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

That'll be why they are called kit cars and not kit motorbikes then.

I have a new suggestion guys:
"It is only a bike if it can not be made to stand on its wheels when stationary."
This would rule out Spyders, sidecar setups, Morgans & Segways.
    Unicycles are OK though ???

Now you are getting picky. Surely a motorbike with sidecar is exactly that, a motorbike with sidecar? I'd vote that it remains a motorbike because it retains the same single wheel steering and the same single wheel drive.

Motorbikes can’t stand up on their own, ‘cos they’re two tyred.

Very good - fits in perfectly with the tenor of this discussion!

Maybe we have to get picky to make any definition work!
A motor bike with side car is not just a motor bike, so I am happy with that. (A knife & fork is not a knife!)
A motor bike can not stand on its (plural) wheels - seems to take care of Unicycles!
I guess we need a definition for a car now - my brain is tired & it is bed time!

Of course we are. This is KB and pedantic pickery is what we do...

And yes, I wave to Harleys. Sometimes (shock! horror!) they wave first/back.

Actually I do wave to Harleys, its jap sports bikes I don't wave to.

I would love a new Morgan.

I believe Canams, side cars, trikes are all part of the greater motorcyclist community not because they have 3 wheels but because they are piloted by bikers. It's the rider thats important not the vehicle.

I have no interest in cars, or jet skis, or helicopters, or anything else that isn't a motorcycle either. Why you'd expect any support for them here I don't know... it's KiwiBiker, not KiwiMotorisedVehicleOwner. I could give two shits if they use a motorcycle engine, or you sit on them like a horse, or whatever similarities they have to motorcycles; none of those things make them a motorcycle.

I'm sure they're very lovely at all the things they do, but they're not motorcycles, end of.

Why they would want to be motorcyclists in any case I can't fathom... they're clearly their own thing, why not just celebrate that and be done with it?
So a motorcycle that has been converted to a trike should be looked down on and treated like a second class citizen because it has one extra wheel ?.

As has been sugested before on here alot of trike/spyder RIDERS do so because they cant ride a two wheeler.

These people have my respect and admiration in the way they get out there and do things instead of sitting on there arse crying.

This is not directed at you only but anybody that seems to think that if it has more than two wheels it doesnt deserve to be on the road.

I traveled around the south island recently with a guy in a wheelchair that did 99% of the work in converting a two wheeler into three and was so proud to follow him seeing him out there living his dream it bought tears to my eyes and the admiration he got from people at every stop of him and the fantastic job of conversion he did.
