New member, Old Bikie (spyker)

Srs question here, what are they like to ride? I'm intrigued. I reckon it'd be quite a nice (I'm not going to say 'bike' here for fear reasons) to go on a long (ie trip round south island) ride on.

I parked my cage in front of a really nice one in Devonport on the weekend, gave it a good looking at. But didn't get too close for fear of someone jumping out at me thinking I was stealing their precious.

I waited a few minutes to see if Spyker was around - probably not.
Don't plan on arguing whether they are a bike or not - they have wheels, a motor & they are open air, so I like them. No bike at the moment, withdrawal, so Spyker & I went out for lunch yesterday on his, and I tried a new pillion intercom radio out. A really comfortable pillion machine, but I have also driven it briefly. We ride together often, and have been around a lot of the NI together.

Good points: more stable & hence probably safer than 2 wheels. Plenty of go, and they corner surprisingly well, but a good 2 wheeler can beat one. Quite good storage (compartment up forward). Very comfortable for pillion.
Can be ridden on a car licence. Very good in soft sand or similar.

Bad points: quite large to store, a bit hard on gas, still expensive, not sure about maintenance costs

Have probably missed a few things

Bad; They are a prick when parked in crowded bike parking, they shouldn't but then again I would say trikes shouldn't use bike parking. Otherwise, because you ride on them rather than in them they are a motorcycle, (I'll avoid bike because of bi being two etc). I make smart remarks because they are a soft target, what bike isn't on KB.

If i find one taking up all the remaining spaces in a bike specific park I'll be calling a tow truck.

I don't believe Spyker would use up tight bike parking space with his Spyder. When we ride together, he usually angle parks slightly within a car space, and I nestle my 2 wheeler in beside the Spyder. Bike to bike intercom is brilliant for organizing this sort of thing efficiently. The Spyder has a reverse gear for manoeuvering by the way - I wish my bike did!

We have this strange idea that we go for a ride to enjoy ourselves & each others company. We do not try to spoil anyone else's day!
