Your life is just beginning and you have no hurry.
To some the whole point of a tattoo is to show a story that makes up their life.
The tattoo they choose depends on the timing in their life and chronicles the position they were in at the time, no matter how weird or wonderful.
Everyone changes, of that there is no doubt, but for some its good to remember that time/place with a tattoo.
I don't like the generic style of tattooing, but everyone has a right to an opinion no matter how misguided.
Personally I don't have any tats, my wife has two sexy ones and they are tasteful and well placed.
I've recently been thinking of getting a half sleeve that shows who I am, what I believe in and the things I love, it will be designed by me, but with the help of a good graphic artist before any ink gets etched into me!

There are around 10 different versions of the basic black,Spauldings is and always has been the best.

Tattooists in the know will buy their inks from Spaulding by batch # and then blend it themselves.

All ink will eventually spread but that's not always due to only the ink it's self.

The skin replaces all it's cells over about a 7 year period, but the ink particules not being cellular is not expelled during that process so it remains but can spread.

It spreads most if it's not placed correctly between the first and second layer of skin,,when it's to deep and under the 3rd layer it's spreads "badly" after about 10 years, often less.

Colour is seldom placed as deep as black,so you get more fading with colour but less spreading.

Most spreading and fading is simply due to the age of the wearer, not the skill level of the tattooist.
The current work I'm geting is using the Intenze inks .. and others ... I will be interested to see how wel it lasts - right now it looks great but it's pretty new work ...

At my age I'm not sure it will styil be around to see how it is lasting in 20 years ...

Good on ya',,my 65 year old father in law resently got some ink that's pretty special to him.

Funny thing is that he was always a bit critical of people with Tattoo.

So when I asked "why now" ?

He admitted he'd always been just a little envious of people that did what they felt rather than what they were expected to do,and now that he's retired he's going to do what "he" wants for a change.

First a Bike an now tats,,,,I'm looking forward to the next move,,my mother in law,,not so much

I have 9 tattoos and plan to get more, all have meaning which wont change. Admittedly people do judge if I have them showing but they are easily covered and are only on my back, upper arms and lower leg. They have only ever been fully aired in public once....at the March Hare after a few dutch courages.
I'm not arguing, I'm just explaining why I'm right.

    Righto, in a nutshell:

Got my first tat on my 18th birthday, after partying all night, and slept on the table while getting it done.
Tsk, tsking you may be at this vision, but: I am now 36 and still love that tattoo and what it represents to me. It could do with recolouring, but it is still beautiful.

Then tat number two came along, highly criticised, about 8 years ago. Once again, why on earth would I care who says what about it. It is deeply personal and I am still happy with it.

And two years ago, I got tat number three which covers most of my lower back (as some of you already know) and works with tat number two.

The whole thing symbolizes my family tree with my husband and my two children. The most powerful and important influences in my life, the ones who keep me grounded on a daily basis. Hell, I am proud to have this etched into my skin because it means this much to me, and if anyone ever considers it anything else than the beautiful display of love that it is, well they can resoundly kiss my tattooed backside and take exit left without saying goodbye.

Not every young person is stupid enough to not know what consequences are. Just sayin'
