    Blah RangaRacer making GirrlRacer nervous

Turiana’s Race Report: VMCC Round 5
For round 5 I didn’t know if I was going to ride or not because the brakes on my KR150 weren’t working. Dad spent two days fitting a new hose, seals etc. and flushing litres of brake-fluid through the system. If I didn’t get them fixed, then I wasn’t going to race. I didn’t get them fixed that weekend, but then the other fast Ginga (Rogan Chandler) let me ride his spare bike for the weekend. This was a change because it was a RG150 and it was in race shift not road shift, but I was just glad that I had a bike to ride (: My goal for the weekend was to get into the 30’s.
    Practice/Qualifying
For practice/qualifying I was trying to get used to using race shift and using a different bike. I was feeling nervous but excited when I got on the track, and for the first time I wasn’t right at the back of the grid. I was third to last on the grid which is better than usual. My best time was 1:45.724.
    Race 1
I was slowly getting used to using race shift and was getting faster. I was on my 4th lap and was going round the first corner. The catch bottle went in front of the gear lever and I couldn’t change gear. When I was on the track I didn’t know what had happened so I pulled into the slip road and had to DNF on that race. I still got faster though, and my fastest time was 1:42.177.
    Race 2
During this race I was feeling quite confident on the bike and was trying to get used to using the brakes. The brakes on the KR150 weren’t that good, so I wasn’t sure how late I could brake on this bike. Every lap I would brake later and later coming into turn one and Higgins. This was the first race that I hadn’t come last in  I was very pleased to have set a new personal best with a time of 1:38.349.
    Race 3
I was feeling very confident this time and wanted to get even lower in the 30’s. I didn’t get any lower but I was .061 of a second off getting 1:37’s my fastest time was 1:38.061.
    Day 2
    Race 1
We had just had our practice and I was ready to do 12 laps. I was focusing on getting a better braking marker coming into Dunlop and carrying more speed through the corner because I know that Dunlop can be a fast corner. I only got lapped once in this race and I was very surprised. I had set another personal best on the weekend with a time of 1:36.916.
    Race 2
I was feeling a bit tired in the last race but I was still determined to try and do better. I ended up getting lapped twice by the fastest rider and I knew I wasn’t going as fast as I was in the last race. I wasn’t going that much slower though, my fastest time was 1:38.692.
Over all I had a very fun and exciting weekend. I am getting a new personal best every time I go on the track and I am getting closer and closer to my sister Mihi  I would like to thank K2 racing (Wharfy and Katie), Steve of Moto Academy, VMCC and Mum and Dad.

Excellent stuff ! Race shift is a bit tricky at first but once your used to it it is quicker changing up.
New PB AGAIN !!! Cool... :
Glad you got to have a ride - I guess all those years of no maintenance when I had the KR is the reason the brakes are stuffed
Oh yeah another good report too - keep it up
