Apart from the snow, 705's were fine last time.

For the record, I would also like to note that plenty of people running knobs fell off in the snow. No-one running 705's front and rear did
I'm running full road legal knobleys front and rear (Bridgestone)
Ive only ever run knobs on it

E07 rear, TKC80 front, got 6000K out of them, E07 was 1/2 to 2/3 worn and the TKC80 was about the same, the E07 seem to last well and hang on well with reasonable road manors and reasonable off road, being a chevron pattern they dont do side hill that well or step down hill in mud but in a straight line forward they clear well.

The TKC is a softer compound and a good all round jack of all trades type tyre but master of nothing.

    Cheers All

Good point about the better stopping power on shingle with knobbs, and being tyre prepared for if the weather changes

Yeah Nordie nothing like having dual steering

Seems to be quite a few punctures on the dusty or is that down to the sheer volume of bikes ? The terrain ?

Are some tyres better at resisting punctures over others, types of tread patterns ? Do any of ya's run heavy duty tubes ?

Ryan has a twisted sense of humour, before each DB1K event he litters the challenge section with nails and broken glass. He then stands idly by with a video camera in hand to capture the chaos he has caused, his evil laughter fills the Awakino Valley and can be heard from many miles away

The Awakino challenge section is very rocky and has a reputation for lots of punctures, not just the rocky sections, the random rocks under tussock and around blind corners, ain't that right junkmanjoe?

Three dustys and 2 punctures so far. One rear and one slow leak in the front which became a fast leak towards the end of day two. Managed to get to Fairle by stopping and pumping then riding for about 8ks before things got wobbly again. Then rinse and repeat.

    Yes to h/d tubes.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

"Scans back up the thread to see what folk said they shod their stead with"

"Crikey" - dare say a knobblie like the T63 I'm currently running would be more susceptible to a puncture than an E07 (Rear's)

Kool photo ADVGD - yah's look hardcore !

T63s are an ass to change too. Very stiff sidewalls. E09 is very easy and compliant to change.
