Oh well, cheers for the replys guys, even if i hadnt been given the cheaper price a week earlier i would have spat the dummy over the second so all would have been revealed, fwiw ive sent a TLS clutch basket/plates to the states for less than the quoted second price, imagine what she would ave wanted me to pay had she been behind the counter the day i sent that.

It could be that they have just charged you the lesser of two amounts automatically till now. The change could be a change in NZPost policy, a bad day by the attendant (i.e. a passive aggressive bitch), or just plain laziness.

Not often you hear of someone sending bike parts TO the states.

Jobsworths mate - I hate them, but I refuse to give them space in my head ...

You package has gone overseas ... the women have completely forgotten about it all ... they are having a nice day - you are not. Why are you giving it any more energy????

NZ Post does have a calculator on their website - you can pay for it on line too, saving the vagaries of the ladies at the counter. Been caught out a few times myself.

When getting a price from my local postslop, the ladies write the price on the parcel. When it is taken back to send, they just look at what they had written and do a very quick re-check to confirm.
