    Bucket Commuter to FXR Racer!

Malcolm and I have been working on transforming my FXR from Bucket Commuter to FXR Racer only. Most of you will remember this wee gem, the cardboard number board was genius, well I reckon anyway :

After three weekends of grinding, welding and sanding and bogging the bike started to take form. Won't bore you with all the painting and bogging photo's (I was kind of proud of myself, lol) I did all the cleaning and sanding / bogging (not a great job for my first time but OK) and Malcolm did all the hard work. Look at the lack of all those pesky wires!

Three weekends and a few days later and we have:

I am really stoked with the results so far and happy with the lack of cost involved with the transformation. Most of the $$ saved was because I have an awesome BF who has the patience, tools and skills available to him. The rest was minimal $$ for paint which was not really necessary. I also learned some new skills myself! Patience was not one of them!!

I am posting this thread up to a) Show people that an FXR is simple to transform and b) does not have to be costly.

This FXR has cost me less than $1000 all up at the point it is now. The engine has been round the clock (almost) so I may be on the look out for a new engine soon, still a cheap bucket.

Now to quieten the exhaust..... See ya'll at the NI Series!

Cheers, it's definitely a different bike now, much lighter! Unfortunately it's gone form one of the quietest to definitely too loud! We have plans to sort it though, never fear!

Doodles checking out the build quality. Hard to impress a cat.

Hope he's fixed that throttle for you. Looks good to go.

The cats input is very important, I think she was impressed as tried to get in on all the photo's so obviously wanted to be see with it, lol!

The throttle is AWESOME. No play and really light on the hand. Having carb issues with leaking, nothing major but have a replacement carb that should not change the throttle from how it is now.... But yeah, good to go once quietened!
