One of my favourite books. Recommend get a copy for inspiration. Mine was from tech books in Newmarket.

Anyone who would openly admit to owning a fiat bambina in public, deserves a medal.

Nice car! Having owned a Mk2 Zephyr for a short period of time in my late teens(piece of shit that the car dealer sold me, still hate him) I notice that the Customline looks quite similar to a MK2 Z Car.

YOu could possibly build a brand new one given enough time and money. If this article is to believed Ford can still supply old sheet metal.

    I had a 56 Customline in the 70's.

Plate suggestion - CUSTRD (and paint it the right colour!)

...as kids we were often taken to our rugby games in a 58 Customline...it was under 5 stone seven times and half or maybe more of the team would squeeze into the beautiful metallic green monster...if we did well, Jack who was the cool bloke who owned the car would take us from Lyttelton to Templeton Speedway on the saturday night...his Customline remains synonymous in my mind alongside memories of Ronnie Moore, Barry Briggs, Ivan Mauger, Ole Olsson and huge open wheeled speedway machines, the first hotdogs and the desire to want to be a speedway star...the Custom 300 was the coolest of the cool to me for a lot of years...I remember a wild trip to the West Coast with a couple of mates when we were about sixteen and getting involved in a big hassle at the movies on saturday night in Hokitika...we decided that beating a retreat in our Morris Oxford was better than getting our arses kicked by the local boys...they chased us out of town in a Mainline ute...it was real Dukes of Hazard stuff...they were smacking into us on the metalled road and we were hanging out the windows throwing shit at them and waving a big stick at their windscreen...they lost it and roared off into the blackberry on the side of the road...yeah Customline Fords have a big part in my mind...I'd still love one in my shed...

Had a couple of Mainlines too - sold the last one for $1,000 more than I paid for it.
And still kicking myself for selling it at all...

    Just love those '56 Fords
