Met the muppet's relative today, on the Southern motorway just before Puhini Road turn off.

He was lane splitting at 110-115kph, riding a silver bike that looks like a CB900 (with two exhausts under the rear seat), license plate B5WTD or B5WID... Overtook me within my lane and then crossed in front of me to filter through 100kph traffic.

Wait .. wait .. don't tell me .. I know the answer to this one ...

Ya' never hear about it from anybody but the liars,,,sorry I ment "bikers" that claim to be doing it.

You'd think car drivers would be up in arms over it seeing as how so many bikers claim to be doing it ,,,but nope,,not a thing,,,wonder why I call BS?
Yeah - I've done it deliberately (yeah, I know you're going to call bullshit - sorry, I never stopped to take pictures ... ) I've done it three times in 39 years of riding ... and not since 1988 ... (I can clearly remember the last time I did it ... in Adelaide Road, Wellington, and I left there in 1988) so yeah it happens, but not as often as you might think from the claims made - I too am skeptical of claims by bikers they do it ... they are trading on the image the small minority (1%?) create ...

I snagged a wingmirror on the NW causeway last year
Traffic was crawling at 20KPh max, I was splitting as you do. UPS van decided to swerve right in his own lane and sandwiched me between the van and the poor bloke in a Toymota Exiv on my right, the gap was narrower than my handlebars and I could feel the van on one leg and the Toymota's pass door on the other leg.

I ended up surviving without damage to me or the bike, (was banging on the side of the van with my fist) but followed the Toymota and got him to pull over by gesturing and indicating. I then re-attached his mirror (not broke just unclipped) we then had a piss and moan about asshole courier drivers and went our separate ways

I do run the causeway twice a day in rush hour, was the Hyobag rider on a blue 650? If so, I've seen the muppet before, one of the dodgiest splitters I've seen. Even dodgier than the Harley Bagger (tea bagger?) rider that I followed this morning. He was wobbling about and must've caught a few mirrors with that massive fuck off faring that those have

you're being too tough team.....wing mirrors are like cats whiskers. They let you know when you are getting too close. Not our fault if they are poorly attached.

Was splitting down NW last week - completely forgot I had a spare helmet strapped to the side of my bike (making it wider than I thought). There were a couple of "that's a little tight" moments - I dread to think just how tight they really were with the helmet.

Was going up the inside of a line of cars - noticed a soccer mum in her 4x4 starting to 'drift' (cars doing walking pace) out of the lane - slammed on the brakes (plenty of space to spare!) and she was talking on her phone. She then opened the door and was very apologetic - clearly she was not paying attention or even holding onto the steering wheel!!!

Brisbane's congestion is worse than Auckland's. And it's 32c. And lane splitting is illegal.
