    Electrical Q?

I'm sure there are many bright sparks out there that can help me with this query.

Turned on the lights in my room only to watch one bulb blow. Ok cool I'm not totally stupid I go and pop a new bulb in there... Doesn't work...fair enough, I try the new bulb in another fitting and sure enough it's working fine... So this is where I'm a bit stupid, whats happened here? The second light works fine and they both run off the same switch.....hmmm any ideas?

the fitting is fucked. 8$ at bunnings. 2 screws. easy.

    -edit-

also, wipe the bulbs with meths or something and get your greasy fingerprints off them. they last longer.

Thats the bit that the light screws into huh? Would I have to turn off the power when changing that over?

    Call an electrician.

Or from reading your posts - call ambulance, tell them electrocution and to hurry. Then fix it yourself.

Mate, do yourself a favour and get a sparky in or a friend who knows what they're doing.

It's probably a dry joint, squirt some distilled water into the switch.

are you sure the bulb actually blew?
maybe the spring loaded pin inside has lost it's springiness probably due to excessive heat

photos of the light fitting would help also if you do decide to replace this yourself turn the power off at the switchboard as some fittings are still live even when switched off at the wall

The fact that you had to ask on here tells me that you should not be attempting to fix it yourself. Get a sparky in dude!

Um, dude, if you had to ask whether you should switch off the power before embarking on a DIY fix, please go get a sparkie.

No no no no no. You're supposed to test the connection like you test a 9v battery.
