    Shark Speed R

Hi has anyone tried these helmets ? Supposed to be good for 'unfaired' bike riders ,

There are a few reviews out and about and they generally say that if it fits the shape of your head it's comfortable, relatively quiet and does what the ads say it should (ie. be stable on an unfaired bike). The only real downside people have noted is the ventilation isn't the best and it can get a little sweaty if you're riding in warm conditions...

Well it finally arrived ....YAY !

Went for a ride over to Akaroa today , bit blustery, helmet is actually quieter than my XR1000,
This helmet is designed for naked/unfaired bikes so less turbulance etc, it does work !! even when
caught up briefley behind trucks and vans.
The internal dark visor was really handy today as i got closer to the hill top where the gravel is i
flicked it up leaving the clear external visor in place so i could see the dreaded gravel in the shaded
corners, once past that down with the tinted and away again.
Vents work ok , whether or not its effective on a hot day remains to be verified, come on summer !!

    Im happy with this helmet

Done a few haif days at the track recently last one Friday 5th , last few sessions the Nor West
kicked in hard, the wind down the main straight at ruapuna was a bastard but the Shark stood up
really well, sure there was some buffeting but not enough to stop me going out. The helmet stayed
fairly steady didnt want to lift or bobbly left and right.
The vents worked well, still not a real hot day to comment on its effectiveness yet...

Well the chin vent crapped out last week it wouldnt snap shut , turns out a bit broken inside
somehow , anyway 'Northern' took lid back and replaced it with a new one without question.

Still cant comment on overall vent effectiveness yet...

Finally a hot full days riding , from Alex back to ChCh (From KB Ettrick meet).
Vents work well, they dont feel as they do as in cant feel much flow but my head felt 'aired',
    Better than my XR1000.

    Cheers

Gud to hear a running review of the helmet. Did you know there's lil removable velcro pads where glasses can slide in easier? Cool features.

    I have a Shoei head

Sounds like a happy rider mullet

Yeah I've got shoei full & o/face, they fit my noggin. Bought a Bell RS1 a few wks ago, only worn once so verdict still out. The Sharks fit well too but are too pointy & get in the way on the 'chair'. Poo.

    Enjoy
