We can all cross that centre line, me, I tend to do it at slow speeds But the Rossi road wankers are really a worry.

What actually prompted this thread was seeing a guy ride up the road I work on, it is a very curvy, divine bit of road. 50kph area and cars praked each side, all over the place. Not a road to take lightly, lots of driveways etc. In a car you HAVE to cross the centre line from time to time to get past cars praked on the road. Then you get the ones that straighten out the corners as well. Why the hell you would risk flying up that road taking the centre line is beyond me. Testorterone? Come on guys, explain?

Consider riding with the learner/newbie riders. Best thing ever. They feel safe riding with somone that has a bit of road craft. You are fairly immune from dickheads. And, best of all you get to encourage sensible riding and riders.

The late apex strategy save my life riding home from a BRONZ ride right ride safe course a few years ago.
A white S4 RX7 ran wide on a turn and occupied the area I'd have been riding had I stuck to either the right wheel track or taken a racing line...
Awesome! Yellow lines are another thing altogether! Dont even start me on them, so many of "my" riding roads have been ruined by the application of the double yellow painted lines They are not treated with respect anymore, as they are EVERYWHERE!

Ah, yes, so I was. It's not wet for long, either.

By the sound of it if we all keep away from Warkworth we should be ok.

Testosterone, yes. Arrogance too. A belief that being up on a bike with a view over most cars roofs they can see the oncoming threats with enough time and skill to avoid a collision...

Respect pays no part in how people treat (or see) white or yellow lines. We ALL find the legislation regarding both ... inconvenient at times.

Sometimes ... we know there is no risk to us ... or anybody else.

Sometimes ... we think there should be no risk ...

Sometimes ... we just hope ...

    Sometimes we get lucky ...

I try to respect everything when on the road, in any vehicle really. Bit like the sea, if you have no respect, your shark food.

Don't worry, lines of all colours will be ignored more & more as the Govt keeps sponsoring the "crazy with the yellow paint" & the "insane guy with the white paint" to run round the country painting everywhere they can & shouldn't be...
It's the "boy who cried wolf" syndrome & it can only end badly.

Reminds me of a very sloppy rider I caught up to down sh22 last Saturday. The rider was going into a blind left hander taking a wide line into the oncoming lane then exiting wide as well. I followed him for a good 5 mins and there were at least 5 corners where the rider is alive by pure chance. The weird thing is I'm far from being a fast rider and don't know the road very well, yet i stayed in my lane and caught up to and got stuck behind this twat. Im on my little 300 he was on some honda with 2 exhausts out the back. He acted real surprised to see me behind him when he was turning off and saw me in his mirror, panicked and swerved to the left.

The safest line on the road can often be the quickest if you ride it well. Caution & forethought does not mean slow.

Thoughtless driving has become almost typical. I'm getting pedantic about my line of sight through a corner. I want to see that sporadically piloted vehicle as soon as possible so I can get out of the way, if I'm not already leaning out of Dodge. It happens every ride.
