Info re: top box for gn250?

I used to have a san remo top box on my ventura pack rack (had a metal base plate that enabled adapting to fit to a pack rack). From memory i had to use the 'sports rack' attachment to enable the lid on the top box to tilt back. Was pretty secure & never got blown off in the Welly winds + never leaked.

Top boxes are the business for commuting, lockable & waterproof

fwiw, get the biggest one you can afford, you can never have enough storage space.

Camera and phone (and snack/drink) in the tank bag. easily carried when off the bike.

Room for two helmets in the Top box. Or my helmet and jacket.

Comes with a plate that bolts on to the rack, easier if you have the short back on it.

Mine was one of those cheap trademe ones from that seller. The small one was fine on my 250. After a fast ride when I got home all i had left was bits of the mount....

My Givi one has survived a run quite a bit faster than 150 km/hr. (on a closed and private road of course )

My setup, I found the reflectors weren't up to much so added some Hi Viz tape. I can still slide the Ventura pack on to the sport rack on the seat behind me. works a treat for me.

I have had one on my bike for ages. I used to have a pack-rack and bag. It served me well.

But ...
1. It wasn't entirely waterproof.
2. It wasn't lockable.
3. It was easily removed from the frame.

Steps can be taken to reduce issues with 1. But the others were a hassle to rectify.

Most topboxes are UV resistant ... and take a bit of punishment.

They are/seem bulky ... but I wouldn't be without mine.

They are quick and easy to remove from the plate if you don't need it. I fit mine on just in case I may need it.

Yeah .. I've used Ventura gear since the mid 1980s .. and still do .. yeah .. all of the above ..( and there are D rrings which can be used to paddlock the bag to the frame and padlock the zips ... )

However I've gone past 240 klicks with a Ventura bag on the back (with stuff in it) ... but the bikes I've had with top boxes have had messed up handling past 130 klicks .. even with the top box empty ...

I'l take the Ventura gear any day ..

I have a SHAD 40 litre top box, so far it's been great, bought for around $180, seems a little more robust than the similarly priced Givi I had before it and just as functional. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned them but might be another option for you...
