Lived in Orkers back in the day.
Parked my patrol bike on the Southern kerb of Victoria Street East, just West of Albert Street. Reversed into the kerb, intending to sit on the bike and bust anyone who blew the red light travelling South on Albert. About late 1989, early 1990.
Anyone who knows that intersection knows that it's steep downhill toward Queen Street.
Thing is, I put my left foot down to steady myself, something I've always done. Sadly, there was a deep drain there, and my foot went into fresh air. The combi of the steep slope down to my left and the very low drain cover caught me out.
Soon I was lying on my left side with the R80RT-P lying on top of me, and passers-by wondering why I had chosen to park with the bike on it's side, and me under it.
A nice man eventually stopped and help me lift the bike off myself. I then rode off, feeling like a total chump. Totally correctly so, I might add.
