I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
Damn you lot, we've just lost another human being who actually managed to do more good than harm in his own lifetime, who stood for downtrodden and poor, who made life a little more bearable for many who could not get a simple hello from our own govt agencies.
Ask The para Olympians who got them to the games, ask Westpac rescue who made it possible for their choppers to simply take to the air, ask the cancer society who for as many years as he's been famous has made significant contributions in both time, money and personal sacrifice, since well before he was ever ill.
This man didn't do anything by halves, he fucked up, he made us laugh and he made us gasp with his audacity and sometimes his stupidity, throughout it all he maintained his own life rules, he helped as many as he physically could, he knew he couldn't help them all, he knew fame and fortune didn't mean he could fix the worlds ills, still he tried and he never stopped trying.
R.I.P Sir Paul.
Time to have a wee rest, me ol mate.
For the record, I didn't like Paul Holmes for a very long time, he held views which I could not agree with, he championed people who should never have been allowed here ( Ahkmed shit face for one), he was anti gun ( until it came time to shoot the birds at his olive ranch) he learned by his mistakes something we've all had a good go at.
Throughout it all he evolved and he grew stronger and better able to make his people see his own failings and his way of dealing with things that happen to him as they happen to everyone else.
Paul Holmes is/was a damn good kiwi bloke.
he stood and was counted when it came to his own and I for one changed my entire outlook on Sir Paul Holmes after seeing him stand beside his daughter( don't you barstards even dare, she's his as sure as night follows day, I know some fantastic guys who's kids are not their own, but who would die for them without thought) in public court and when I saw him stand tall in a public courtroom and ask a judge for his daughters life back, when he promised to do everything he could for her.
Is that not enough for you?
It was for me.
Every day above ground is a good day!:
Please stop the whole 'hey man, he's dead show him some respect' rhetoric.
Just because hes dead doesn't suddenly make him a good guy. Stop letting your middle class values cause you to default to your inevitable guilt. God its such a cliche.
Grow up, death shouldn't change anything.
He is what he is. Good or bad. You're only trying to make yourself feel better by talking him up.
Let me guess.... white? middle class?...
Well said, just a shame there are not more like him in this life......especially those fucking keyboard warriors who pretended to be bad ass bikers when we needed them to stand stand up and be counted.....especially those who said they had our interests at heart when all they were really bothered about was their own egotistical gains......and especially those fucking Arsenal supporters....
Well said Caseye,
Sorry, silly me. I thought the thread title explained the situation. Apparently he hadn't done enough to warrant a knighthood? So I guess it seemed like it needed explaining?
While I'll agree your post has some validity as that kinda thing happens in human nature - this thread was going on well before he passed away.
"Is the C*nt not dead yet" repeatedly is just sick, regardless of who someone is or isn't, regardless of any class or values system. And quite frankly would warrant a punch in the face in most worlds. How's that for values?![]()
ter·ra in·cog·ni·taAchievement is not always success while reputed failure often is. It is honest endeavor, persistent effort to do the best possible under any and all circumstances.

Bloody hell some of you guys need to look in the mirror a bit.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
