Sheesh, SBW has power & talent but has shown no ability as a "fighter", I mean that single minded murderous instinct. Unless he is absolutely ruthless, or dumb, financially, he must crave that toe to toe, mano a' mano time which is why he is in the ring anyway. You never really know yourself until you get hurt & really have to fight. Money or Mano?

SBW is entertaining, under achieving but he has the goods. I want to see him have a war. He needs a bit of rage in his punch.

Regardless of the hype he has excelled at nothing.

Mr Botha has no fear of the ring, I bet he eats his steaks horns off & arse wiped.

Cant see it myself George,to much pretty boy not enough mongrel for my money. His reaction after getting a smack in the mouth in front of the media pre fight last time out (or was the time before that) was almost able, sure he went on to win the fight but so could have anyones grandmother.Guys on this thread are talking up the guy fighting him so almost tempted to book it and watch, hope to be proved wrong but watching him getting a beating would be right up there with watching him dish one out.

OK everybody wants SBW to actually fight somebody worthwhile ... well now he is going to and the critics are still mouthing off negatively against him!

I for one admire him for taking this fight and actually believe he will redeem himself by defeating Botha!

I am only backing youth against age here and expect SBW to get one hell of a work-over from Botha and then recover and take the bout!

Should the outcome be the other way round at the end of the day, then SBW will have to make some real decisions about his boxing future!

There is nowhere to hide in that ring and SBW is the one taking all the risks here, Botha has nothing to lose whatever the outcome!

Good luck SBW and may the best man truly and clearly win.

Exacary my point. I think he is dabbling but would love to see him get really pissed off & trade real punches. He has speed, power & co-ordination but has shown no "killer instinct".
I used to compete in Judo, up to national level. To become an international or an Olympian you had to have that finish, the absolute drive to win. Lots of people can get to that point but very few get past it, me included.

I don't care who wins. The buffalo deserves his purse, it's how he feeds his family. SBW is just putting himself in the spotlight for better or worse. The best we can hope for is a real fight.

I think the fight is a formality but I would love to see the opposite. Against Botha, if Bill wins on points that will be slow viewing.

I'll be happy just to be entertained, well, I'm not going to bother watching it, so other people, people I don't know will or will not be entertained.

In which case I don't care really.

Its still not a real fight, Botha is past retirement, and SBW still hasn't had a real fight.

Match him up with someone his own age, weight, condition, and let ability and skill be the difference.

That said, Botha is going to crush him.

One of the problems with these rugby league 'show ponies' is that they believe all the hype that the media write about them. " Modern Gladiators" , real men etc.

I'd love to view a good even honest fight but doubt this will be one.

I watched some great boxing last night. Two young guys at my gym. Both round 60kg and a bit fiery. There were four of us watching. way better than this one will be.

Not sure i agree with the SBW punches like a girl comment. Anyone that big and fit will have some power

SBW was already a professional athlete when he decided to venture into boxing.

I think you will find that he was prevented from building an amateur foundation in the sport because of this.

He was then only able to find the odd mugs who had tried and failed in a professional career to fight him.

As he floundered around gaining experience it was inevitable that he looked like a fish out of water simply developing his skills to match his natural physical gifts.

The mugs available for him to fight eventually had to get more capable, sort of like a crossover point and SBW has reached that point.

SBW has gone into a dangerous place and has had to learn in the school of hard knocks where failure can have some serious consequences!

His critics (IMHO) underestimate him and would have more credibility if they themselves were prepared to face those same risks and speak from experience.

Personally, I find this to be a very interesting stage for them both of them and that makes it a worthwhile contest!

I await the outcome with intrest and favour youth over experience on this occasion so it might be a night of surprises, for everybody, especially the contestants.

All this hype over a pretty fella punching another fella, and possibly getting beaten down?
That's no fun. Martial arts any day thank you, art, not pummeling with fat lips.

We used to do boxing at the esplanade pub in devonport back in the 80,s, usually against the navy boys. Some of those fellas could of gone far if they had the passion.
