Have you ever been to a MotoGP?
I think if some fans had of taken it upon themselves to expectorate on Mr. Stoner, it would have made the news.

The point is that his constant stream of complaints, clothed in the aura of the "Aussie Straight Shooter" just don't stand up to close inspection.
Shit, he even had a crack at Aussie V8's, before he even got there...

    Really?
Is there any evidence to back that up?
Having been to a GP in Spain...I can believe it. They're fucking nutters. You've been. And look at how the Poms boo the fuck out of him. Since he retaliated by calling them all arseholes...do you think they too might spit at him?

Come on, Mate - if someone had hocked a loogee on him, don't you think that it would have made the news?
As the founder and sole member of the I Wanna Have Casey's Babies Club, I would have expected that you would have commented on it long and loud at the time...

He speaks his mind, as do you. I wonder if he was in front of you if you would be so scathing, disbelieving and speculative to his face?

I've not been to a MotoGP, but from what I understand many fans try to get autographs when the riders are on their way back from the podium, long after the cameras stop rolling and the reporters are on their way to the bar. So it would not surprise me one bit if he got spat on and it did not get reported. I certainly would not call him out as a liar just because there was no "proof".

Ummm...it has. I want babies with his Mrs. And now I'm wondering if it was when she was on the back of the scooter with him. Maybe it wasn't spit after all...

I don't know if any fan ever spat on Casey, but it's well known that many fans didn't like him, and this is not unrelated to the fact that he frequently treated them with disdain or contempt.

He is (was) a great racer with a truckload of chips on his shoulder. Do we have to argue about that?

I feel fans get too precious about racers. By nature a racer at the top level needs to be self absorbed, selfish, aggressive and arrogant (I'm better than all the rest etc). Those traits do not always translate well to people skills. Sure there appear to be exceptions like Nicky Haden, but when the visor is down, you can bet he is as aggressive and combative as any (No, you go 1st good sir? yeah right!). We come to expect these racers to be at the pointy end, and most need those traits to do so, then we expect them to have personality transplants when they get off their bikes? I feel it should also be noted that reporters are paid to get any sensational sound byte they can, and context often becomes collateral damage. Unless I heard a totally unedited transcript, I don't take reports to seriously.

And yeah, lets get the racing started already!

Well reasoned and rational. Something rare on KB.............
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

Whatever you are trying to say Oscar I am absolutely sure the Rossi fans and the Lorenzo fans did not like their men getting beaten by the little Aussie battler and in that respect they are no different than in other sports. Did Stoner get spat at - I am sure he did along with stuff thrown at him.

When our man Croz complained about the state of 500GP and team management and all that stuff back in the 80's, he came home to NZ still as our hero. I don't remember anyone calling him a whinger at the time when he quit like Stoner. Why not? Well he was a Kiwi and our man and not some Aussie whinger.
    Cheers

    Merv

Yeah. That's why the thread is called MotoGP 2012. A bunch of grumpy old guys reminiscing about the old days.
