Generated a bit of interest it seems. When I got around to sorting them out yesterday, they decided to be an obsolute pain and refused to come off my camera.

Serves me right for getting clever with Linux, but there you have it. I'm going to filter through them today sometime and they should be up tonight

That's why I'm happy with my Ginny. If I had anything faster I'd probably f*ck myself up given my lack of skill/experience.

I'll admit it, I overtook. I got bored being TEC and took off up Mt Messenger (the group seemed to have broken up anyway).
I've learned that being TEC all day isn't good for me. Next time Steve and I could swap roles at lunch time - I think we would both enjoy it more that way.
I'd be happy to spell you leading the learners Maha.

First up I'll say I read the brief, but forgot the stagger file. oops!

That car (with the dealer plates) annoyed me, he was being a bit of an idiot, but even with my close call I was not super worried. He obviously only really wanted to pass on the passing lane, but couldn't be bothered to slow down at the end of it. Lazy driving. As a snap decision I felt it was safer to power ahead (I was about a meter in front) rather than try and find the room before the corner to let him pass. Maybe on a GN I might have done it different?

Next passing lane he was gone, though only to bug the next person in line, unfortunately. The other traffic didn't make passing conditions easy.

I hope I did well with the other rules, though most are common sense really. I am not sure on my personal opinion on staggered formation, it has it's ups and downs (lefts and rights?) and for the ride we were doing was a good fit. Again great work all, and I might cartch ya in April?

Yeah its a tough job (as I said before) and its all day. In front, forever looking in the mirrors....''ok I can see three bikes, wheres the rest''?...slow it up for a km or two...''theres one more...and I think thats the rest''?
I was mentally shagged when I got home, but its like that after all the away group rides.

Was good the see Ash take over after breakfast for you guys.
Will have a look at RIC/TEC thing next time, normally I ask who wants to and get 6-7 saying they can help.
Yet another thing I ommitted this ride...
It's still a huge amount of pleasure though.

Staggered is just for the straights. Around corners, everyone follows generally the same lines. My concern with you not being in a staggered formation was that it made it difficult for me who was behind you, if I had to stop suddenly I would go straight up your butt (and I'm pretty sure you don't like it up the butt! ) Staggered formation gives people, especially a newb like me, more time to stop/react. Not a criticism, guess it just made me feel safer, staggered.

Anyway if I'm wrong please correct me Maha or the like..

Staggered formation on the straights allows the group to remain more compact whilst providing enough distance to react and stop. Through the bends I found I took quite different lines to a lot of other people both, because that's what I do, and to provide a better view then the rider in fronts butt

Its safer that way when riding as a group, yes, no correction needed... bluninja has the main reasons spelled out.

Also, the last minute swerve to avoid roadkill or debris...if you ar following directly behind that rider, chances are you wont react in time to avoid the same thing.
